Not another SRT-4 thread!!!

When I had all my mods on my MSP, I ran dead even with a friend of mine who has an 04 srt. He had a aem cai, and a 3 inch downpipe. I had unichip, fmic, 2.5 turboback, injen cai, and thats all.

probably had more to do with your buddy than the car. With just those mods the SRT should have been putting at least 240hp and 260ft lbs of torque to the wheels and would outgun an MSP with your mods without breaking a sweat.

IMO the srt isn't all its cracked up to be. I've driven a couple and didn't think they felt all that powerful compared to my car. I did put down 240 whp in my car though.

I can tell you from owning an SRT and an MSP together for the past year that the SRT is actually quite a bit more than it's cracked up to be....starting with delivering more HP and torque at the wheels than Dodge rates it at the crank. The difference between them is night and day as far as power and straight line speed.....it's not even close.

And not to offend or anything but if an MSP gained 90hp just from the mods you listed above I'll eat the computer I'm typing this on. I'd have to see the dyno sheet to see that it went from 150whp to 240whp that easily.

payments stayed the same.....insurance went WAY down.
How can payments be the same? Did you finance it for longer? And you ARE talking about a 350Z, right? I'm sorry, but there is no way insurance could possibly be cheaper for a two door sports car like the Z. Or are you talking about the neon?

what the hell are u talking about ??? msp will easily gain 90 whp with those mods assuming he was boosting around 10 psi ...

What about suspention upgrades to pull over .90g? And the coilovers/springes to loose the dreeded NEon Wheel gap?

Dodge is all about making dyno queens and drag cars. 1st thing you see listed are the Turbo upgrades and not much more. Honestly is there such a use for all that HP without supporting mods like bigger breaks and etc? But I guess breaks and a stronger/stiffer chasis dont really matter if your going in a straight line.

2003-05 SRT-4 Anti Sway Bar Kit
PN: P4510454
MSRP: $499.00

2003-05 SRT-4 Performance Springs
PN: 4510458
MSRP: $250.00

Or coilovers will probally be what...$1,300?

So with all that money you can get stronger con rods...and case close. The money it cost to make a SRT-4 handle as good as a MSP will take as much as it cost for a MSP to produce the same hp# a SRT-4 has. IMO honest opinion engine tunning can be done by anyone...suspention tunning cant. With the money it takes to but springs and sway bar kit...you can buy some oliver Rods from MA Motorsports and it will be strgoner then the rods in a SRT-4. Throw in Pistons and APR hardware and doing the job yourself (the fun part). You can probally run a engine stronger then the SRT-4. Mazda spreaded the money all over the car...Dodge threw it into the Engine.

How much does a Stage 3 cost?

If you want a high hp econobox car then im sorry the MSP isnt the car for you. But I have to emphasis that Building a car to go fast in the 1/4 mile isnt hard. I've seen a 10 sec Geo Metro. But fixing inhertied flaws in a econo chasis is. Think of how lotus engineers can design a chasis so stiff that it doesnt need sway bars.

well, I got a Nissan discount through my work which allowed me to get the car way under invoice. That plus my down payment made the payments within $10 of what I was paying for the SRT which I bought last year with no $ down. As far as the insurance, the Z is quite a bit cheaper than my SRT-4 (almost $120 a year cheaper). When I posted on the Z forums about that fact I found it was quite common.

when I see a scan of a dyno I'll believe it. I scoured this site and did many searches and found nothing close without upgrading internals and boosting to dangerous levels to reach 240+ horsepower on an MSP.

yeah, you're pretty much listing the exact reasons why we kept the MSP and sold the SRT-4. Although it is a bit expensive and warranty killing to make the MSP faster so we leave ours stock. If you want something like an MSP with more juice your $$$ is better spent on an EVO RS for around $26k. For the price we like our MSP just as it is.

Okay, that makes more sense. I thought you were comparing the payment price and insurance rate to the MSP. I can see where insurance would be cheaper than the SRT. That thing just screams, "I'M GONNA RACE!" to insurance companies. And I believe the Z is a safer car, as well.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

...******' Bitches!

My MSP is fast.

I drove an SRT-4, if I worked for dodge, I would have bought it. I work for Mazda, I bought the MSP. Haven't regretted it yet.

The RS is an incredible deal. But the MSP is still my daily driven econobox that is fun to drive. plus the RS doesnt have the comforts I need in Florida. AWD is nice but FWD is the best when it comes to efficiency. Performance is another matter but unlike the SRT-4 there is a chance of a 4wd MSP. I dont know I still have dreams of gettting 30+ mpg on econo mode and swithc to race mode for high hp econobox on the weekends.

Im very fortunate to get the Mazda "test the best" rebate which was $3000. Plus I was able to get a extra $1600 off through negotiation so I ended up with $185 a month with my Ford Explorer trade in. Plus insurence is about $1300 annually...im satisfied with my MSP. And I havent had any problems once so ever.
