So pissed right now.....I was all ready to get tint in the next week and my parents decided "tint isn't necessary for the amount of money it costs." Although it was nice having my parents buy the p5, I hate having it not be my car, and having to get their permission for this stuff, even though I'm the daily driver of the car.....I was going to pay for it too and I explained ti can be removed.....oh well maybe I'll buy some dg interior stuff or something with that money, since it looks like I'll never get to do any engine mods or exterior mods.........

you have the following in your sig:

DG Motorsports CF Interior Kit
DaveB Brushed Gauge Rings
Kicker Solobaric S10L5 Subwoofer
Kicker kx400.1 amp.
Interior Blue Underseat Neon
OPTX Neon Music Interface (neon controller)
Custom fiberglass subwoofer box
36" trunk neon with controller
Momo Sills

...but you can't put something as functional as window tint on your car? something sounds wrong here.

I suggest that you save up and pay for the car and pay for your own insurance.

That way you can do whatever you want to YOUR car.

yeah my car is being tinted in about 2 weeks...but that stuff happens when u dont buy ur own car...cant do what u want usually...ive bought all 3 of mine so far no one can tell me what i can and cant do thankfully

I wish it worked that way...
I pay for my car and for my own insurance and its not that my parents wont let me do whatever i want to the car(they do let me) but my mom feels it is within her right to hide my keys or threaten me if I try to go somewhere when she tells me i cant...kinda sux, but it beats the hell outta paying rent somewhere else :D

Well it's not so much if it's going to hurt the car, they like to try to supervise what I spend my money on I think. There's really no way I could afford my insurance or to pay off the car, I'm in Highschool and my school is a very difficult private school with more work than anyone would think, so I dont have time for a job during the year. The interior stuff I've done to my car I've just pretty much done without consulting my parents, and they dont seem to care probably because they dont know how much it all costs. Oh well......just ordered the new DG Motorsports CF radio side strips and cf wallet to at least get something I wanted.

Same thing happened to me, then I started modding up the car soo much without them knowing that when they found out they were basically like "**** it we can't drive this s*** now" LOL I change it a lot from when it was stock and they did'nt even notice until they took it to the dealership. So now they let me do whatever I want to it as long as I pay for every mod with my own money and I don't blow the engine (laugh)

...so what's stopping you from doing the same with window tint? just do it.
it's always much easier to beg for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission.

Haha no thanks, it's really not worth it that much to me. I was just pretty excited to get the tint, and then parents sorta of shot that one down, but whatever I can live without it.....and now I have a CF wallet :)

NICE my CF wallet came today! I love it, so many pockets for cards!

My parents used to be exactly the same. So, I bought the car off them, but they still felt that they could tello me what to do. Most of my mods were supported (even my Mom bought the CF hood as a grad present) but others like the springs they felt were a waste of money... So I did it anyways. Once it's on the car, they may get mad at you, but they get over it, and you'll have your tint. What are they gonna do, make you take it off once it's on? No way. That'd be a waste of money.

LOL "**** it we can't drive this s*** now" that is the s***!

sorry man... tough to feel sorry for you when your parents buy you such a nice ride. hell, when I was your age, I was ridin around in a sh*tbox that would only go the speed limit on the hwy if I pushed it off a cliff.

let them know about the advantages of tint. The lessening of heat and using less a/c. Security and privacy also come from tint.

lol, im in the same position as you Viper....my parents wont allow mods cause they bought my car too...obviously i have to earn the right to drive it, such as right now...its in the garage and off limits until graduation cause i had too many tardies...but yeah..i just went ahead and got mods anyways. My parents dont know shyat about cars....i had put my engine dress up kit on, and i was like ooh, ill show my dad how purdy this is....so i call him over and right as i do i remember i dont want him to see my engine bay cuz of my intake...too late though...lol, he's like oooh nice red...then he points to the intake and was like 'did that come with the car?' i was like uhhh its been there for awhile...he just goes...'oh, cool, its shiny'

and then another time, i had my trunk open, which happens to have my header in it that has not yet been installed...he sees it and was like, wtf is all this junk in ur trunk??? i was like uhhh, stuff...hes like why dont you throw it out?? i was like uhh...in case i want to go back to stock?? (mind you, he still hasnt realized the intake wasnt on the car to begin with) and hes just goes, ahh i see, makes sense...

yeah, i just now voluntarily show my parents after i get my mods...like after my springs i was showing them how much lower it is

if they were to know how much i spent on my car, they would probably kill me, but they dont, so oh well :)

dude, and this is a ****** LONG ASS reply

moral...Get the tint :D

WTF??? since when do parents care about tint??? Just get the legal limit and I don't see why they should care. My dad got me tint last christmas... it's just like one of those things that you don't even think about... you just do it. Maybe it's not the same where you're from... idk, but in florida, it's like manditory lol

hahaha just save your pennies up and slap on a turbo... then see what they say, hahahah i bought my car with my own money, my dad just helped me out a little with the down payment, i'm paying everything else, but anyways. i still don't wanna tell him about my turbo even though its my car... i'm 22 and in the marine corps btw.... hahaha actaully i don't wanna tell him about my c/f hood, new audio setup, catback exhaust, rims, springs.... ummm pretty much about everything i've done to it... hahaha i just don't want him to know that i've put a little under $10,000 worth of work into my car...... HOLY s*** thats alot of money! now i'm definately not gonna tell him that, last time he saw the car was pretty much when i was driving it off the lot.
