Nocturnalspeed's Welcome & Build Thread

nice - mine are on the way out as well - you to much of a puss to roll around TX without air? ;)

It ain't me. It's my girlfriend, she will leave my ass if I don't have air. But I have thought about removing it when I go built.

BTW: I think the removal of the whippers is CitizenPro's secret for success. God only knows how his msp beat/stayed with so many cars ;)

I only removed his wiper reservoir because his carbon goodies are going on soon.

Rule of thumb: Every time you go under your hood, something must get removed; wiper reservoir, unnecessary bracket, bolts, etc....

oh and the walbro pump is loud, especially after a long drive.

Air tools work best, obviously. But having a swivel socket makes things run much smoother. If I remember correctly a 17mm socket is the size you need, and we attached a 1/2" swivel socket with a 1/2" extension to it, to loosen the 3 top bolts of the mount from over the top of the intake mani (a cheater bar may be your best bet to break them loose). Also removing the battery and battery trey gets you access to the side bolt, and this is where you will be removing the stock mount and putting in the new mount. Oh and one more thing, good luck removing the plastic harness bracket properly, It sits over the mount with two 10mm nuts.

I believe I removed the top 10mm nut, and just broke the plastic bracket off the bottom nut. When we were done, I re-tightened the bracket with just the top nut.

Same here. I actually had to break the bottom bolt off the firewall to get to the last nut on the mount. The worst part about it all was that when trying to put the mount onI realized there is less than no room for error because of the way the front and rear AWR mounts pull against each other. Maybe mine were faulty in some way, possibly one was welded at the wrong angle or warped during manufacturing....

Good luck with the install. I love my engine being as stiff as it is.

AWESOME THREAD!!!! Nice build man. I love how the EVO clown was talking smack because I'm pretty sure I've raced cars in that platform and definitely held my own and I'm on stock motor, trans, injectors, and intake mani. I have bolt ons and a bigger turbo but, I certainly gained the respect of those owners and they have ALOT more money into their cars.

Any updates man? Wondering how this build is goin.
Mine should be back on the road hopefully next month got some goodies yesterday in the mail.

Yeah I know it's been kind of dead in here for while. Haven't really installed much lately, just been actually driver her for the past couple weeks. Had some issues with the intake manifold brackets which broke and caused my fuel rail to come loose. I've been accumulating some goodies for everyone to see, but haven't taken any pictures. Hopefully I'll have a small install of a couple stuff this week or the next.

We're working with Sam @ Cross over Auto on getting the Haltech Sprint 500 equipped to run sequential on our 36-1 +3 pattern, and not run the 626 cam gear setup. It's already in motion, and Haltech has received the scope trace from Sam. He's also defined the calibrations for the air intake and coolant temp sensors, so everything should be up and running here soon!

In the mean time David hasn't stopped with the upgrades......many items are still coming in and will be posted up soon, with pictures of course!

Sounds like a plan can't wait to see the pics.

I love new parts when they come its like christmas all over again and again.

looking forward to seeing some pix. This kind of thread makes me miss driving my MSP even more. Man, I can't wait to get out of this country and come home

Yea but your collecting that extra bank to make your msp even sweeter when you come back and keeping the miles off of it :-)

My protege is fun to drive n/a and stock aside from a strut bar. I can only imagine the hooning that can be done with such a finely crafted setup. I cant wait to see what else you have up your sleeves.

Thx @ sderrickson...

She moves pretty good as of right now. Some new tires, a good tune and the carbon goodies on will step it up a notch. She should be driving on rails when it's all said and done, but unfortunetly she can't get into boost because of the stock tune :(

I'm all show, but no gooo...
