So come to find out after months of waiting for my stimulus check it was cashed and my name was forged.

No thanks to sovereign bank who says they can do nothing for me when all the obvious evidence shows they allowed this mishap to happen. Mistake or not I remind them regardless of how the check ended up at one of their offices they did not stop to check or think something was amiss when the name on the check and the account did not match. I have no idea what happened, but the person who attempted to sign my name wrote their account number, which the money was deposited into, on the back of the check and it is also a sov account. They can see the transaction they know who the person is they have a copy of the check but they won't give me my damn money, call the police to file a report, or even credit my account contingent on me proving this check was never cashed by me!!!!!!

Sov Bank seriously lost a customer today and I just want to spread the word of the level of detail they take when handling their customer's money or concern for customer care when they have made an obvious grave mistake that costs customer's a significant level of concern and aggravation. Granted I have to go through the treasury dept to formally get my check back I understand that; but they have been sending me on a wild goose chase to various branches and to fill out various forms. This is my time wasted at work, my money spent driving all over creation and my aggravation for THEIR mistake. As well as concern for my accounts... Sov Bank FTL

wow, sov bank did that?
i had an account with them while living in RI
never had a problem

on the other hand...BANK OF AMERICA SUCKS!

I too have an account with Bank Of America, and man, let me tell you, dont EVER open an account with them. They will screw you over everytime.
I went to deposite a paycheck with them, and got to the bank 5 mins before they where posted to close, and they decided to close early, and I had insurance to cover that night. My insurance was pulled, And I came back and pissed off explained the situation. The girl I was dealing with said, "No Problem sir, we will cover the overdraft charge if it hits." Man , I should have gotten that in writing. That night, I get hit for 37$ Plus the amount over. I went back a third time and explained it to the manager, and she said, sorry, that was your fualt, not ours, so the overdraft is up to you to pay off. Im so sick of that bank, I will never deal with them again, EVER!!!

Sorry, (jacked)

Get a lawyer to deal with this and sue the bank for a lump sum as well for wasting your time and not taking responsibility.

And Lose.

The most he could recover is the lost funds from the check..He has no other losses he could claim from this mishap.

Good luck though.

This is just another thing wrong with America...Everyone is sue Happy.

thx to be honest I just want this aggravation to go away... I don't want to make a big deal of it but I am frustrated .... I wanted sov bank to say hey ya sir we did screw up let us follow up with the IRS so you don't have to and file a police report yadda yadda or tell me step by step the proper procedure ... at least that's how i'm feeling now i'll let you know after i'm on hold for 45 minutes with the IRS again.

anyways i don't play on sueing but I will not have a problem with criminal charges if it happens...

Here's my Bank of America experience..
they said, 'OH.. overdraft protection is free.. if anything every happens.. we'll cover you'

fast forwward a couple years.. i got mixed up on when i got paid.. and paid a bunch of extra bills with money i THOUGHT was in my checking account.. all that got cleared.. but then.. for the next 4 days.. my acct was overdraft.. BUT DON'T WORRY. BoA covered me.. yep.. charging me $35 for every $1.50 purchase. i paid ~$500 in overdraft fees on s*** that cost less than $10.

see.. Bank of America forgot to tell me that.. SURE they'll cover it.. but they WILL NOT let you know you are overdraft.. until you get their snail mail notice. (i opted for ALL online banking.. THANKS GUYS).

SOOO in conclusion.. if i hadn't signed up for overdraft protection.. i'd have attempted to buy coffee.. realized i'd fubared my account.. transferred money from savings.. and been good. but no.. $500!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Damn SOV sucks, but I heard the stories about them before. I've had Citizens Bank for the past 10 years without any issue.

Side note, my stimulus check went right into paying the family bills. Woot!

I got a letter in advance saying your check is being sent out on date xyz. I thought great paid extra on my bills that month and then it never came so my budget has actually been extra tight these last two months!!!

I know OT, but yeah BOA sucks. I don't have them myself, but one of the people I work with transfered money from checking to savings on the web, not realizing that there was not enough to cover the transfer. BOA just let the transfer go through and charged the overdraft charge. In the end, it was her fault, but that's still really shady...

my bank automatically transfer funds from savings to cover any deficite on the checking accnt. Thank goodness I havent had to deal with not having cash in either accnt. I have no idea of what hey would do to my account with fees?

Zimmer, sucks you have to do all the work from somebody elses mistake. I feel for you. Keep us posted.

I still owe BOA roughly $300 in bulls*** fees that I refuse to pay. I closed my account and they just kept tacking fees onto me.

Lol, they talked to management who told them to avoid the cops and cut you a check.

Other possible routes to try, first go to the IRS, then try your congressman, and if all else fails there's local tv stations.

they might give him two or three hundred dollars towards his thousands lost in court appearances, legal fees, and just hassle in general.

i hate to say it, but the only thing that you can really do is file a complaint with the better business bureau and hope that something comes of it. the BBB likes to handle things like that, but if the bank doesn't cooperate, they will just post up your complaint on their website and it will be the end of story.
