Nickel shiftknob, cheezy?

Mostly it's about all I've got for making it interesting ontop. short of maybe stamping in lettering or something. *UGH* I NEED to get on the CNC...

I really like the idea of... something on the top, if not a coin. I can't really think of any coins... I googled for a 5 yen coin, and now I'm wondering if any Japanese coins even have numbers written out with digits like that. Maybe just a small emblem or something along the lines of the Mazda center cap someone else suggested.

Two thumbs up on the shifter itself. I didn't really realize how small it was in the pics till you mentioned the dimensions, and I looked at a nickel to see how big it'd really be. There's something really nice about having interior parts in your car there that you've made with your own two hands, though. Especially something as important as the shift knob!

THanks. I really do like it, and yes, that "I made this" is a cool feeling. AS for the size, you know, actually the more I drive with it the more I like it. the ridge is perfect for resting your pinky under, it's got a pretty good feel to it alltogether. Still think I'm gonna try something a bit bigger. I think I shall see if I can manage to drill a hole in a marble for the "neck" Also mess wiht stainless, and see what it's like witha bit of weight to throw that B&M around with.

OK, I finally got time to find the coins. Not the greatest looking pieces and only one has a 5 in it. From left to right they are 1, 10, 50 and 100 yen coins. Pics are front and rear. Let me know if one, or all, of them will work.

WOW, coolstuff man, yea the backsides of all of those look sweet! I kinda think really that a shiny new one doesn't have near the flair of somethign that's been used and circulated a bit.

hmmmm...I'm gonna say either stick w/ what u got, or get a coin (I think there are 5c Euro) w/ a big ass 5 in the middle of it...

Nah kinda giving up on the 5 thing actually, Just cool JDM coinage *L* I'd prefer nothing most ppl could understand ontop of 'em makes it THATMUCH cooler.

I'd say it's cheese if you bought it, but the fact you made it is bad ass. Nice work. That Yen coin idea is pretty cool though... way JDM. heh

I'd do something else that's not a nickle though... maybe something Mazda oriented.

At the last shop I worked at we had a laser etch machine. I made this license plate holder out of aluminum and and etched in the Z28 and bow tie. Looked pretty cool. What kind of machines you working on?

won't get to play with lasers at school, but CNC Mills and lathes, (Haas and Mori) and then all kinds of random manual mills and lathes which is what I'm on currently. (2 more months til CNC)

*L* I was wondering when the requests were gonna start. Playtime between class projects and jobs (the school farms us out) and toolinf and small bikeparts for my friend's company and everything else is kind of hit and miss, so, unfortunately it's kind of unlikely I'll be able to handle requests. Aside from the 2hrs it took me of calling/driving around to find a M10x1.25 tap, This only really took like 4hrs to do. Allthat said, though truely spare time isn't allthat common forme. Prettymuch I generally have a line of sideprojects waiting for a window of free time.

I really honestly don't have the time to be doing this, essentially it IS school. Sidework is tolerated, but frowned upon. And again, prettymuch I've got my handsfull with other projects.
