Nick Cage, awesomely bad actor???

Is it just me or does he play himself in every movie that he is in?? I mean hes in buncha different movies but the person might be different but the personality is exactly the same.
He was pretty good in "matchstick men" but all others it just seems like he is playing himself.

You gotta love The Rock. But yeah...comparing Nick Cage's roles to someone like Johnny Depp's roles and you have night vs day.

Johnny depp is a great actor, he does pick good roles.
I think Edward Norton is a far better actor though. Every charactor he plays, he makes it very believable. He has played many different charactors in that are very different, american history x, primal fear, fight club, rounders and 25th hour come to mind.

i agree, his acting is the same in almost every movie ... he's not really playing a character role.

an actor like nicolas cage has a limited acting range. same with julia roberts. in all their movies, they can really only play themselves. you get someone like johnny depp he has been a pirate, a scissorhand, a wonka, you name it. he's not afraid to try something different. jackie chan is someone who's not afraid to try anything new, even what's old, so that he can stay fresh, and still be the blue-collar working man who kicks the corrupt elite's ass. there are much better actors out there than julia & nick but you know hollywood; get the big name, bring in the audience, get the paycheck.

Jackie Chan has made some really bad (American) movies though. I like Chow Yun Fat and Jet Li a lot better.
