Newf's Clunk update...

just for curiosity, doesn't anyone remember the part # for the last release of the bushings? I can't find my sheet from Mazda that had the number on it. I want to make sure it's not the same number that I get today.

BN7H-28-156D
BN7H-34-156

those are the ones I'm gonna be getting put on, I don't know how recent they are. I have an appointment next week to have it checked out, then prolly another week to order parts.

I had my old ones replaced with BN7H-38-156C (x2) after the BN7H-38-156B's went bad...
OK, so I count 4 different part #'s here so far...who's had the best results? I had mine replaced this past august, and it helped a ton. Now its getting cold again, and the thunk has been creeping back. Newf, Good luck! and please keep us up on what you find. thanks!!

Well they fixed it....how? They gave me a B2200 pickup truck :)

Car wasn't ready, so I won't get it until tomorrow afternoon. They said they are being REALLY picky about how this is done this time.

So, until tomorrow....damn, I really wanted to know today. Regardless of whether the clunk is gone tomorrow, only time will actually tell. Give it 3-4 weeks after the bushings are on, if the noise don't come back, it's looking promising.

well, as I expected, the part number is indeed

BN7H-28-156D

I dont' have the work order in my hand, they send it to me by mail afterwards....don't ask. But I took a quick glance at the work order I signed, and it did have a D at the end.

So, now only time will tell. Is the noise gone. Yes. But, it goes away after every bushing replacement.

Good news is, still no squeak noises from the struts since the strut mounts were replaced. My car is actually pefectly quiet now. I forgot how good my stereo sounded.

so is BN7H-28-156D the part # for ALL the bushings or just the rear? what about the front ones?

And does anyone know the part # for the strut mounts? i wanna bring all the part #s in my dealer and tell them to fix her up

those are the rear bushings

When I had the REAR struts/mounts done this is what I had on my order

suspension rear:
MZ BN7H-28-700A - DAMPER(R)
MZ BN7H-28-900A - DAMPER(L)
MZ B25D-28-390B - RUBBER (L)
MZ B25D-28-380B - Rubber (R)

not completely convinced the mounts fixed anything yet because the temperature around here has been warmer then usual. But, it is very strange that I haven't heard a squeak because before I got them done, they squeaked all the time, just more so in the cold. I'm Not complaining, I like it better this way. But a REALLY cold day is going to be the REAL test.

thanks newf :)

but does anyone have the part # of the front bushings?

I think I heard the clunk noise again today, not a %100 sure. Can't say I'm surprised. It is much better. If I only hear it once every blue moon, fine, I'll live with it. But if it comes back full force again I"LL SCREAM!...actually I won't , I'll just get rid of the car completely, Mazdaspeed or not. My patience are gone.

I have a 4 page letter wrote up for Mazda. BEen trying to decide whether or not I should send it with the customer satisfaction survey I have filled out. My dealer has been amazing through all of this, and while the letter only says good things about them, I'm scared that Mazda of Canada will try to blame them in some way so I haven't sent it yet.....yet. If I hear that noise again...it's being sent.

I know many of you may not care or even remember my post a few days ago about my front end "clunk" but it is fixed!!!

It was what I thought it was- a loose connection on the right swaybar. Tightened up and it's all fixed!! I feel like I just dodged a bullet. ;)

Too late, for sale signs are on it as of Yesterday.

She's not clunking......yet. Struts haven't made a sound since fixed either. Every now and then I think I hear the clunk, but truthfully I lost one of the bolts for the sub, so I think it's bouncing around back there...gotta find that bolt.

hey newf i went to my dealer today about the new struts and they told me that if i can get some sort of TSB or anything from the dealer or from the district manager dude then they would do it for me so if you can help it would be great. :D

car is indeed clunking still. Just not so bad. SO, Mazda still needs to get off their asses and make a REAL fix.

Well, we had a FREEEZING cold day here and a really bad snow storm. I can now officially say that the rear end does not squeak no more. Looks like replacing the strut mounts did it.

The clunk is coming back though....not bad yet, but I bet it will be within 3 weeks.

Yeah I just got my rear bushings, and links changed last night. Man, I couldn't believe the improvement of the ride. Especially without that damn clunk. I told them to expect me back soon since people I talk to say they go bad quite often. So for now I'm happy :).

I got the "newest" bushings installed a month ago. So far I haven't had any noises. The dealer said my old bushings were cracked. Does anyone have any suggestions or proven methods on how to keep these from "clunking" and cracking?
