new to mazda

just bought my first car, a 2002 Mazda Protege ES. i absolutely love it! looking to tune it for solo races in the near future. any suggestions?

Staying NA? If so I say get a MP3 ecu or flash yours to it. Probably will add the most noticeable power.

hey just asking im going to swap my 1.6 to a 2.0. will the mp3 ecu work on the 2.0

MP3 also = NO automatic. if you have an auto-tranny, that means NO MP3 ecu.

yeah i bought my automatic knowing there was no hope for a turbo. still a good amount of things i've found though. its gonna be a fun project. its actually a pretty fun car as it is stock

but a turbo job in an automatic car is like 4 or 5k. i'm a senior in high school going into college. i don't have that kinda money yet. just looking for small mods until i have more money to invest in turbo's 'n such

Not to mention boostin an auto is pointless uLl lose mad power from an auto if ur gonna boost u need swap out the trans to a stick..

i boosted my auto at 68k miles...150k now still going strong...best 3k i ever spent, made the little 2.0 what it should have been from the factory. i upgraded the valve bodies and added the cooler...tranny is still holding fine.
