Turbo MP3 #222, 00 Silverado Z71
the mp3 is in the new road and track issue, i just got it last night, they picked the best 8 cars and the mp3 is one of them, it is also the cheapet car by 18,000$$ the vg price of the other cars are around 75,000$$ its a cool issue. the mp3 get last place but it gets a lot of credit just for being one of the cars, i will post some more info when i have the magizine in front of me.

just got the new R & T

here's the list of cars that were included in the comparison:

Ferrari 360 Modena
Chevy Corvette Z06
Porsche 911 Turbo
Lotus Elise
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII
BMW M3 Coupe
Porsche Boxter S
Protege MP3

Just even being mentioned in that list of cars is a great honor for the MP3.

Let me see if I can scan the article and post them here...

While it's cool that the MP3 and the P5 are well represented in the trade (goes back to what we discussed in earlier posts - Mazda needed to create good PR) - I am pissed that I subscribe to both magazines (Road & Track and Car & Driver) and still haven't received mine! I saw the C&D at a computer consulting client of mine (my other job) and read part of it...but put it down thinking that it would be waiting for me at home and I didn't want to read the thing cover to cover before I got MY copy! (OK, I'm weird.)

I need to dig out the phone number for Primedia to b****.

here's the review on MP3 (caution BIG picture)

let me know if you guys want to see the reviews of the other cars

;)

i got the r&t last night too.. its a very good article and they did some pretty good tests.... our car was 2nd in the slolom!!! 70 mph!!! damn good.... anyways... you guys who dont have the magazine yet should go get it or at least look at it...

Wow that is SOOO cool! I'm gonna go and buy two of the magazine...one for reading and one for framing. I mean just read the names on that list and to even be on the same list for handling capabilities is a major honor I think!

I just got done with a track day/high performance driving school at Thunderhill Park in Willows, Ca.
It was hilarious I would be pushing Vettes and Porsches through the corners(We were not allowed to pass in the cornes, and I'm too afraid to anyway) then when we would get to a straight, they would just go into warp drive and leave me in the dust. But almost as soon as they would get on the brakes and throwing into the corners I would be right back on their tail again. And not just behind them, but pushing them hard. The best part is that the rules of the event required them to pull over and let me pass them on the straight because I was faster through the corners:D

It was truly a rush and one of the most fun times I have ever had! Honestly, I didn't have any idea of the MP3's suspension potential until I did this and had an instructor push me into limits I didn't know existed. Many of the experienced road racers that served as instructors for the event were very impressed at the capability of the MP3.

By the end of the day I had boiled the brake fluid pretty good and had made sure that there wasn't a whole lot left of my bake pads and rotors. Side Note: I have been told by a couple of guys with many years of racing experience that the regular Ford(says Motorcraft on the can) High Performance brake fluid is very good. There's no real reson to go for anything fancier unless a sponsor pays for it. The Motorcraft stuff has a high dry boiling point (I believe it's 550 F) and it's a LOT cheaper than the ATE or Motul or Performance Friction stuff.

MP3's are the shizzle!! i cant believe they beat out a 911 and a ferrari in the salom. Also all those cars are 2 seat coupes except mp3, lancer, m3. Not only can our car handle its practical.

Just wait for the Mazdaspeed 3!:D That Lotus gets much respect here too cause it has aobut 230 HP, and smoked a Cobra in handling, and acceleration! That thing has got to be light. I am surprised that the MP3 beat that too!:D

the lotus weighs 1900 lbs. and the lotus in R&T had 125 hp.... if it had more power i think it would have beat the 360 Modena... and that car is awesome for 35,000... if i had 35,000 for a car i would get a lotus...

what month issue is this in? I just went to get one and they had the May issue and this article wasn't in there..I'm assuming its the june...damn:(

yeah, I went down to get it too, saw the may one, and sure enough, no mp3 inside?

What was on the cover? the new lambo? a yellow one?

one more time

this is great , now i have one more piece of evidence to through in all those honda and nissan guy's faces. btw did anyone see the motortrend mag a few months ago that placed the mp3 #1 agianst the like's of the sentra v-spec, the torbo jetta, neon and few others that i can't remember right now. this just goes to show the kind of car we truly have in our hands:D :D :D

FaaaaNNNNTaaaSTiC

I have, and will say this again.....a lot of people did not give this ride its props when it debut, never giving this car credit where it deserves(Jealous and tired critics). I love the fact that this car is cracking the critics. With a little FI we can eliminate the rest of the minor rantings about Hp ....which by the way has been done from a member of this forum. None other then ....Mr Spoolin himself.....I wonder what kind of reviews the car would get if they tested his ride, now that would be worth testing.....hmmm.

You fools!

Going crazy, talking wild, jumping up and down all excited....
I think you all need to .....
