'06 Mazdaspeed 6 GT
First of all hello everyone, new to these forums and new owner of a Mazda.

I just purchased what I'd consider my dream car (obtainable dream car that is), an '06 Mazdaspeed 6 GT. It's dark gray and has ALL of the extra features (heated leather seats, moon roof, navigation, etc.) The car is like new, not a scratch anywhere on it.

I've put over a hundred miles on it already and love every second I am in it. I've found all sorts of excuses to get myself in it so far. Anyways, not sure I really plan on doing much modding to it if at all (at least for the time being), as I also just purchased a '08 Honda CBR 600RR this last spring...modding that takes priority for now.

I do live in Minnesota so I guess the one purchase I am going to have to make for it very soon is winter tires. The thousand dollars I had planned on using to buy an exhaust system and other upgrades for my bike now must go into some winter tires unfortunately.

congrats on the new car...im jealous. do you mind telling the price you paid?

look on craigslist for some used snow tires and rims that will fit your car...you should be able to get a set for $500 or less and they will work for a few years and then get some new tires after the used ones go bad.

Welcome JSpd6! I'm looking for winters now too, just need to figure out what to do for wheels first. I'll either look for some used wheels from another Mazda, maybe in a 17", or figure out if steelies will fit and in what size.

Anyway, I'm up to 2 1/2 months, and still loving every time I get in the car. :)

Well, after the trade in of my old Cavalier what I owe is $18000. So I paid around $21000 after taxes and everything. And I was thinking about just going to tirerack.com or something and getting some 17s with tires mounted on them but I guess it'd be wiser to look for something used first. I'm just not sure what to look for exactly when searching on a site like craigslist; a site like tirerack makes it easy for someone like me to find exactly what I am searching for. (confused)

I know one thing for sure though, I don't want to have to mount and balance tires on the same set of wheels twice each year. Having a second set for winter would make my life a great deal easier.

Yeah i see where your coming from....tirerack will be pretty easy...but like anything in this world if you have the willing to learn and do things yourself you can save some $$ and learn from your experiences.

i'm not 100% sure about the speed 6 and the tires you have on now....you'll want something with a 5x114.3 or 5x4.5 bolt pattern. The tires should be the same width or less as your current tires and 16" tires cost much less than 17" tires. Im not sure the minimum rim size you need to clear the calipers....some of these requirements might better be said from a Speed6 owner.

I got my winter set of tires for only $250 and they were only used 1 season when i got them...now I have 3 seasons of my own and they should be good for at least 2 more winters...

Where ya live in MN. Im in St Paul. We have the same car.

I'm way down in Mankato. I did buy the vehicle near you though, Woodbury. :P

In other news, I just picked up some new wheels/tires for winter. Got a set of Enkei Tuning SC05's with Bridgestone Blizzaks. Should receive them sometime this week yet as they just shipped out yesterday. (cabpatch)

Odds are I'll get impatient and will have to try them on when they get here so I'll post some pictures then.

Mankato huh... thats south of the cities right? I bought mine up in Brookdale at Luther Mazda. They had two to choose from.

Nice. Ya ever heard of Modern auto performance? They are located in Plymouth, MN. They have an all wheel drive dyno and they are an authorized Cobb dealer. Check out their website. www.maperformance.com They got all sorts of goodies for the mazda. (dance)

I just went there today and picked up my COBB Access port. Its sweet man. They have a hella nice shop. Check it out sometime if ya get the chance. Very knowledgeable people when it comes to turbo. This coming saturday they are having a "mazda day". Anyone owning a mazda gets pulls on the dyno for 50 dollars for 3 pulls. Highest HP gets it for free all day. See ya there.

Thought I'd say welcome and kudos on the new whip! I have a MS6 I picked up a couple of months ago for around 21k as well...got the GT, nav, moon roof and all that jazz too...

The first thing i got for it was the winter wheels/tires...Did you get 17"s?

again, congrats!

Yep, got a set of 17s. I just got them in the mail last week. Have been to busy working to try them on. Hopefully I'll get around to throwing them on tomorrow to see what they look like.
