congratulations !

Something to keep you from grinding your teeth...... (motor mount) then CAI is a must mod . It totally changes the car . It does make it noisy though .

(lol)

Anyway, don't understand what you mean about grinding your teeth, but if he does upgrade you will be grinding your teeth. If you are not going to mod the s*** out of this car like I have, then please do not upgrade. There is no need. If you do decide to upgrade the rear engine mount, go with a 70 duro or less. Do not get the 88.

Anyway, CAI would be the best thing for now. You will be able to hear the turbo spool alot more though. Don't know if you still want to keep the car quite?

Good luck.

Congrats on the new car :D I bought my 08 MS3 about three months ago and have been loving every minute of it. If you are looking for a good first mod that you won't regret later, won't break the budget but will still give you some smiles, the MS CAI (cold air intake) is the best way to go.

You know, the more I own this car, the more I like it which is very satisfying. The chick in my avatar is in town right now and I am letting her drive my car for the week when I am at work (I drive my bike to work). Yesterday during lunch, I watched her back out of a parking spot and then pull away....ahhh, soo freaking nice to see your car in action and enjoy every angle.

+1 on the CAI (most bang for the buck, imo) then, my next would be...

TWM Shifter Bushings (or one of the diy alternatives, if you prefer)... shop around if you decide to go w/ the bushings as shipping from (canada) is $$ and there are local (usa) retailers who stock them, some of who also offer free shipping as well!

(edit: hmmm, no geo location listed in your profile... but, you show a cwp model there... maybe you are Canadian? eh?)

(edit2: hint: Location:604, Canadian Area Code 604 = British Columbia; Vancouver area)

(edit3: however... the ISO Country Code 604 = Peru ...hmmm (alright) ok, ok so i'm off work today and bored.... )

I may be wrong but I have talked with several mazda dealership techs and they said the motor mount issue was remedied on the 2008's! Is this true or is everyone still worried about it?

different mount all together the one that was breaking was the trans mount and the one people replace is the rear mount on the bottom of the engine.

Ok thanks for the info..I have a 2008 MSP3 (400 miles on her) so should I look at replacing mine, and if so, does anyone have a link I can use to get this part?

ok don't mean to step on any toes...but a Cold Air Intake? You make the air a few degrees cooler then it gets super heated in the turbo...hmmmdoesn't sound like the best "bang" to me.

Short ram Intake...make the intial breath easier, our airbox is rather restricted. If you want to make the air cooler the do the front mounted intercooler (cool the air after it has been heated and compressed) then you run into another problem increasing lag....so now you need a bigger turbo....etc etc etc...

the real solution...make our car about 5-10K cheaper, so that as soon we get it we can "top to bottom" the engine and drive train.

Haha, now we start the SRI vs. CAI argument... again. One of the first upgrades should be some kind of intake, there are so many threads debating cool air vs short ram, read up on them. It seems that people are happier with either one, i chose the CAI and i think thats what a majority of intake buyers chose as well.

The CAI is the way to go but, be careful of the short ram intakes. You will be sucking hotter air from your engine compartment rather than from in front of your right front tire, as where the Mazdaspeed CAI is. Also, no need to worry about sucking in any water with the Mazdaspeed CAI unless you plan on driving through a river!!!

the gears in the transmission that the syncros engage are the dogteeth. I had my transmission replaced at 15500 miles .
The motor mount helped . I did get the 88 duro and I would say that it is a little bit annoying sometimes with the cabin vibration . I would recommend something softer . And after many more complaints about grinding second gear Mazda decided to put something they called "syncro shift" in the tranny and its been worlds better on shifting.
