Hiiii all. I've had my Mazda3 for nearly three years, and I'm juuuuust getting into doing a few mods over the summer. Pretty nice to have found yet another great forum :)

Do any of you have project cars on the side? I'm looking into getting something RWD in the next couple of months, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to balance the cost of a project car and the cost of doing some stuff to the car I already have.

most of us just ***** ourselves out to get the money to keep one car modded and on the road... good luck with two...

I have a project 93 MR2 Turbo... that's my biggest sink hole... can't seem to stop modding it... It is getting a T3/T4 50trim turbo installed now and a full tune on an Apexi Power FC. I should be making ~330RWHP on 93 pump at 18PSI. It has a JDM Gen 3 3SGTE swap, unopened, stock fuel with all the bolt ons, full MSD 2 Step Ignition, and a standalone... hoping to do cams, fuel rail, and some 800cc Injectors to get myself up to almost 375whp on pump.

The MS3 is just getting the basics... MS CAI (already installed), Corksport inserts (ordered), TWM Shifter bushings, Window Tint, Boost gauge, and maybe some suspension.

I got an 06' GSX-R600 also, couple safety add on's (frame and spool sliders) and looking to get a full pipe and some visual upgrades for it...

It gets expensive!! But if you want a good RWD project... let me suggest a decent shape S13 240SX and do your everyday SR20DET swap... easy and fairly inexpensive swap and tons of fun.

That MR2 sounds like it's no joke!!!!! And I have to admit I'm pretty jealous of the gixxer as well. I considered a 240, but an exboyfriend of mine had one and got me into the drift stuff.. I just can't see myself with a 240, lol. I'm sorry though, KR > SR. Even though it's more expensive in the long run! And I just happen to be in a cash crunch.. I appreciate it though :)

You mean KA ;) , but yea it's definitely the more expensive route. I hear ya about the 240sx... just can't think of too many other cars that are fairly cheap to get your hands on and fairly cheap to upgrade that are RWD... Unless you find yourself a nice AE86 Corolla, but they are pretty much drifters too. There is always an FC RX-7 or an MK3 Supra.

I love my MR2 and it's gonna be totally sick when the turbo is installed and the tune is done, but damn if it didn't cost me a s*** ton of cash to get it to this point... thankfully I made plenty of money to blow on my Iraq deployment (lol2)

YES! KA. Oops. I would kill for an RX 7 (a friend of mine just got an FD), but the gen I want is kind of rare. I guess I only have a few options left! Maybe a newer gen 300ZX? I dunno just seems a little big. There's a Hachi sitting behind a dealership close to me, but no one has the title or anything. It's just sitting there ROTTING :(

What branch?

I was Marine Corps. Got out last July.

FD's, decent shape, definitely not cheap... FC's Decent shape, fairly cheap and have a fairly large aftermarket backing. 300Z, if you are gonna get a twin turbo, also gonna be pricey and pretty hard to come by. you could look for a good condition turbo MR2, slap a boost controller, intake, and exhaust on it and it would be fairly quick, but they are mid engine, so if you are used to drifting, it's quite a bit different with MR cars as we all know.
