Hello everyone, just bought my first Mazda 2 days ago! Its a 2001 protege. I know its nothing to fancy but hey I like it! Took it to echeck today and bombed on the n0. Almost double the limit. The check engine light must be burned out and they said since a new battery was put in they couldn't get a code as to why also the spedo isn't working. So guess i have some replacing to do. Its a 5spd Thats been lowered, has an exhaust , cold air intake and a short throw shifter so far. I want to do some small mods here and there. I just closed on a house also so moneys a lil tight. Any suggestions? Im in Kent,Ohio btw. Thanks for any suggestions in advance!!

Welcome!, not sure how I missed this. Check out the Random Thread of Awesomeness, that's where we do most of the posting. Besides upgrading the motor mounts I'd say your pretty set as far as performance mods.

Welcome aboard bud. Mod list? Just do what you want, the damn thing will never have enough power. Re-paint your wheels, I hate black wheels. The contrast between the tire and wheel is lost and makes my eyes hurt. You are not the only one either, it seems that every other person on the forums is going with black wheels. Sorry about the rant btw.

mp3 ecu might be good to add a little power but you have to run higher octane gas. Like hat said, it's never going to make alot of power unless you boost it and then you'll want to go forged rods so you don't go boom.
I wasn't trying to bash on you up there. We are a pretty tight bunch and some of us have quite a bit of knowledge when it comes to mods and such so don't be afraid to ask. Keep an eye on the Ohio section and try to make it to some of the meets.
