Hey All!

Just bought an '07 Mazda5 GS a couple weeks ago. I thought I'd search the net for forums and came about this one - love the layout and setup ... and from the looks of things, you all are very knowledgeable about the 5!

Hope to talk to you all soon!

Hey! Welcome to the forums! You made a good choice buying this car and a good choice joining the mazdas247 forums...(yes)

Welcome! Forgive my ignorance, but what trim level is the GS in lower NA parlance? There seems to be a large following of the 5 in Canada, this gives me hope that it will do well in the snow this winter.....

Not 100% sure by what you mean by "Trim Level" ... but I'll try to answer it my best!

My 5 came with 16" Wheels (10 spoke) instead of the 17" ... No sunroof, auto lift hatch, close-assistance side door etc.

The GT came with all that jazz!

I'm also curious to see how it handles in the snow/ice this winter ... so I'll let yo all know!

You will need winter tires

Welcome to another MZ5 owner in Ontario.

Handling won't be good in the snow with the OEM Toyo tires. If that's what you have, go get some decent winter tires soon! I am putting mine on today as we speak!

Which did you get?

Time for online shopping with the strong CAD dollars!

I bought some Bridgestone Blizzard LM-25 winter tires from tirerack.com. It took me only one day driving in the snow last winter to realize how dangerous those OEM tires are. Go check out all the options on tirerack - with the current exchange rate for Canadian dollars, it's probably going to be a good deal even with the shipping and custom costs. (I paid an extra $84 for shipping and $196 for customs).

Welcome to the forums! (sun)

But be careful. The econo-hatch owners will ridicule you for buying a slightly larger econo-hatch. Especially if you express any desire to modify it! (evil)
