NEW ENGINE PUT INTO PROTEGE 5 any 1 else had to do the same

Hey all first time posting here,

Just curious to how many ppl have had problems with overheating, and resevoirs melting, and wat not, and thus causeing to replace the entire engine, becase the malfunction of a thermostat. Well two days ago it happened, complete overheating, warp of the head, and warning light never ended up coming on, until it was too late, and took it to mazda, and they have to put a complete new engine in my baby, only 120000 kms on this engine i just torched,

at a cost of $3000.00

hey dino, i saw you this morning going around the circle near the big wawa on delilah road. tried to catch up. but you kept going around. prob around 845 ish.

i replaced mine because of an overheating/blown head problem. I got a motor with 20XXX miles on it for 1700 bucks, installed for 1100 bucks. When they put the new motor in i also got a stage II clutch and lightweight flywheel installed.....tremedous difference!

i dropped 3 grand for a new engine as well, but i spun a rod bearing and had a nasty knock

dang man I got a new engine with low miles from a local junk yard and installed for $1500. I guess i got lucky huh? sucks you had to get a new one though.

yeah... because there's no stinking warning light!

yeah I got a engine from protegegarage for around 1000.00 and having it installed for 900.00...so 1900.00 in total. Replacing engines sucks. I feel your pain... trust me.

i had mine replaced at 144,000

they put in an engine with 16,000 kms on it

cost me just under 3000$

I had the same overheating problem when my car was under warranty at about 10,000 kms....my fan fuse burnt out! I doubt that was the cause of the engine blowing up that much later but any overheating doesn't help

hey im goin on engine #3.....blew the 2nd cuz the radiator leaked all the coolant out and the motor melted basically

You didn't think to turn off the engine when you saw the temperature start to rise?
