New EGT readings

And if it is oil than 99% its your turbo oil seals getting to much pressure and this can be easily alleviated by a restricter in the feed line.

Wouldn't a restircter increase oil pressure?

I was thinking the same thing. Don't you increase pressure when you force a fluid from a larger diameter to a smaller diameter?

My thinkings are that it would increase the pressure behind the restrictor but lessen the oil pressure going into the turbo.

sorry, sorry, sorry. Thread jacking is a serious crime. (slaps own hand)

Beavis, I have had a Greddy Electronic Fuel Pressure gauge available for the longest. Never used! I need to bump that thread back to the top.

Thanks for the offer, but I've got a fuel pressure gauge on order (I think). . . I say I think because I haven't gotten confirmation that it is shipping or anything but I asked a certain someone on this forum to get me one. . .hmm. . .who could that be?

As far as a restrictor, it would increase the pressure if we actually had mass conservation (sorry the engineer in me), but since, there are alternative paths, the oil will typically try to find an easier way and go that way rather than fight the restriction, so it would decrease the amount of oil as well (which kind of bothers me), but that's just my take on it. I could be wrong, hydraulics are not my specialty, I hated fluid dynamics.

hows going this?

Any update?

My car just started to smoke ugly today after 2 hard pulls beating a Tiburon V6.

my car smokes big time!! it always seemed like black smoke to me but who knows if its blue or not. it smokes a lot at idle sometimes...the rspeed a/f meter is at full rich and the idle is very irradic, going from 5-10vacuum back and forth. i notice this is only when i let the blow off valve blow off and if i just put it in neutral...i was thinking maybe there isnt enough air in the piping to compensate for the comp thinking its running lean, which makes it run super rich... so whats the deal with black smoke??? is that bad or just a sign of running too rich....i have no cats on just a resonator and a muffler.. most of the time when i start up my car and let it idle to warm up theres a kind of black liquid (i think its just water and sut) that appears to drip/shoot out of the muffler...what the hell is that??? (it leaves a little mark on the ground too)

Yeah, My car only do black smoke when pushing WOT.
But now it does the combination of blue and black. which means that Im running rich enough but also burning oil.
You can tell the difference by the smell.

Your case? You are running too rich!
But at least you are safeh

too much fuel is not that safe. cat converter can become clogged and cause severe backpressure and alot of future problems.
you guys are running vortech fmu's right?
what disc do you have installed? i would recommend the 8:1 for low boost. i know kooldino has the 10:1 and is running ok , but to each there own.

Vortech 12:1

Im not running any cats right now and will not install one until I fix all my issues, I dont want to clog it with either gas or oil. I alreay have the exhaust pipe completely oil wet. And the resonator effectiveness is fading away.

Once my car stabilizes big issues, I will baby it like a showcar. New exhaust pipes, and some cf stuff.

My car now is a MESS...

i also have a 12:1 vortech, and no cats, just resonator and muffler.... does yours leak out or spit out some sheit when you first start her up igdrasil?? mines usually leaves a puddle (not really big or anything) right outside of the end of the pipe. i think the smell is mostly gas being rich but i have a leak under my oil pan that i have to fix.... i bent my oil pan, any clue on how to rebend it back...maybe a vise grip or pliers?

12:1 Vortech FMU.
Black smoke is rich no doubt, I ran real rich at one point and I had all sorts of soot coming out the exhaust pipe. I still have a "mark" on the inside of my garage door from starting the car with the door down.

As far as the oil pan, bend it back with pliers or if you have a flat steel plate or something you can softly hammer it flat, but you'll need to fix that.

As far as my smoke and oil leakage, I still don't have it resolved. I put in a restrictor system that I made, it helped, but didn't solve the problem. I ran real well for awhile, but now it started to smoke bad again.

I tore the car apart Wednesday night and I have oil in all the piping. Not cool. So, it is back to being a problem. I cleaned up some of the piping and will try a couple different things and see if that makes any difference, but right now I'm trying to figure out how to "fix" the leak in the turbo itself.

As far as this thread was originally concerned, I have verified the fuel pressure works as it should. Plenty of pressure available there. Still waiting on the group buy for the wideband to verify if I'm too rich or not. Man I wish that deal would go through.

well...

Little Beavis, I have talked to a lot of people around here that lives their lives on turbos.

They all told me the same:

I will need to repair the turbo, The oil definitedly dammaged the oil seals. So, the repair consist on replacig all inside turbo oil seals.

k, im bringing this thread back for the smoking reason, i fixed the oil leak on my car and it was good for the first week, but now it tends to smoke a lot, after maybe 30-45 mins of driving/idle. it looks to be whiteish smoke, but sometimes it looks blue i think....it smokes big time and the idle loops from 500-1000rpms. i dont know what couldve caused this because i am running only 4lbs boost and its usually always rich when im at wot...ive been told a restrictor will help so i am asking for a price and availability for it...i also need to know what could be causing this smoke??!!! i only drive it on the weekends now (most of the time) so i dont know if theres just condensation building up and thats whats causing it...any help is appreciated big time, i want to get this fixed...

Check for oil between the turbo|downpipe...you might want to unbolt the downpipe.
But first, just to be sure, the the intercooler pipes, this is very easy to do.
I have pictures of my oil leaks in the downpipe and in the turbo, it may help.

wheres the pics, and is it obviously leaking into the downpipe? or does it look more like soot?? damn, this is something serious huh, but why with only 4 lbs bo0st?
