New Bose Stereo Problems

Yeah that's what I don't understand. I mean it would save Mazda a ton of time and money to post the download for u to do and it would save us time wasted at the dealer. It's a win-win situation.

There are a ton of mouth breathing morons out there who are incapable of burning a disc image, or would somehow screw up the firmware flashing process and turn their head unit into a $500 brick.....

true, but if they did provide the flash, at least those of us who could do it would be able to nip it in the bud and no have to involve the dealer. The ones who can't are going to the dealer anyway.

I don't even care how, I just want the s*** fixed so i can b**** about something else LOL (laugh)

Guys, I feel bad about anyone that is getting the run around. Its plain and simple. Most ppl are paying sticker price for these damn cars and this should be consider a problem and should be fixed right away. I dont know what the Lemon Law states in your area. But anyone that is having a problem needs to take it in and get it documented. If they dont fix it in a reasonible time then its consider a lemon. Also if your Service manager needs to talk to someone that knows about the problem, have him contact my service department and have ask them. they are Mazda South in Austin, TX (They are going to hate me after this :). They are considered one of the best Service Departments in the nation and its apparent why.

I'll just chime in that my week-old CWP is losing it's bass down here in San Diego, too. I sent the service dept an email last week with no response yet. I'm calling them today. I really wonder how they determine whether to put in a new head, or just reflash? Independent (I think) of this basic functional problem w/the bass, the Bose system sounds pretty weak. My stock E36 was MUCH better sounding. If a new head would fix the problem AND the weak sound, even better. And Fredboer, you are so right. Power to the people. The internet is POWER. I want to add my 'Thank You' to those of you who posted and otherwise rallied to nail this issue.

Saturday I was at the dealer picking up some mats and the salesperson who sold me our's was sitting in a 5 door with a service tech and had the radio cranked listening to the changes. Kinda funny, but they're aware of the problem. Don't know what they're going to do for us yet but at least this dealer knows about it.

Which dealer? I'm in Maple Valley as well BTW.

I pulled into the service lane @ my dealer (classic mazda orlando) and showed the issue to the service writer, he took the car back to the service techs, and in a few minutes they had ordered a new head unit. Should be here in a few days and they said install is only a short time ( 1 hr or less) and I will be on my way :)

It was interesting that they were not aware of this until I showed them, and they checked mazda, they said mazda has no tsb for this, and were not aware of the issue?

I wonder why they're so apt to order a new headunit but they're confirming theres no tsb or news from mazda regarding it. If it were me, I'd still be concerned that the new headunit would do the same thing.

I agree... I sure don't want the dash opened up and then simply have the faulty unit replaced with another faulty unit...

Please report back if/when the swap happens and let us know if it fixes the problem!

some of yall kill me about the comments yall make on here. Its simple. Eveything that needs to be discussed has been. Go get your radio fixed and stop bitching. If your Service MANAGER not Advisor(the person you 1st talk to) doesnt understand the issue. Have him call Mazda South 512-462-3131 and talk to the Service PPL there cause they know what is going on and are fixing everyones problem. SHould it matter if there is a TSB(NOT TO ME IF THEY ARE GOING TO GET IT FIXED ANYWAYS), and to get it reflashed they have to send the unit back(I DONT KNOW IF THIS IS WORKING). The thing I do know is that I have a WORKING radio now and the issue is FIXED. I know this thread is long and you can easily miss some info if you dont read alot of it but everything is pretty much the same. Not trying to FLAME on anyone but I have a headache and I am just frustrated with the ppl that dont know how to get things done for themselves.

Personally, you shouldn't even be letting it bother you that much. I have enough grounds to stand on by being concerned that my visit to the dealership with my two week old MS3 COULD possibly be rendered useless if a) the dealership can't determine the problem as fixable unless there's a TSB and b) how can we determine that the new radio won't cause the same problem? Is there a part number or serial number with a number or code that seperates it from the original MP3 units? That's all i'm saying.

I can get s*** taken care of my damn self. I just don't want to go hoot and holler only to have another faulty ass unit installed.

And FWIW, I already had my sales manager recognize theres an issue and I want it fixed once theres a fix. So that's why I'm tryin to gauge my time and play my cards right so I can have a one stop fix for everything instead of multiple bulls*** visits arguing.

FWIW again, i've had terrible experiences in service centers.

Have your Service manager call my Service manager and they will get it figured out for you. If they dont, your serivce manager is an ASS :)

<Chuckle> Well, you might be right...

If my service manager doesn't get back to me by Thursday, I'll suggest he call your guy. Until then, perhaps I'll just lurk.

Hope your headache gets better soon! Maybe you could listen to some soothing music ;)

Cheers!

Thx for the smile, I take back all the negatives in that last post :)

I am certainly not making a big deal out of it. Others on here have had a new headunit fix the problem. If the radio is the only problem with initial quality on a compact car, thats a plus for me LOL..

seriously, lets not make a mountain out of a mole hill. Their techs might not be aware of a tsb or other info from mazda. but they can hear the problem as well, and it's clearly a faulty radio.
