NEMOC Random BS Thread

Yeah, I'll take the Rx7. Hoping to have my new wheels mounted by then. I need to have the new tuner lug bolts cut down.

Even with the windshield, running an open and a hybrid helmet (open face with a chin bar), and with sunglasses, I always used to get grit in my eyes. Hasn't been an issue once since I switched to full face. It's a little warmer, but I feel so much more comfortable behind the wheel.

Check with your track day org and see if you can run an M rated helmet, or if it has to be SA. Motorcycle helmets can often be had a little cheaper, but have slightly different requirements.

As far as a make & model recommendation, the best recommendation I can give is go somewhere that sells them (motorcycle store, if you can use M helmets) or a safety supply house and try a bunch on. There are a bunch of different head shapes and shells to accommodate said shapes, and it's hard to know what will exactly fit your melon without trying them on.

Also, when you're baking in the sun: Lighter colors are better than darker colors.

Where are these places I can try them on? Sorry for sounding like a newb :(

Had a bit of a snaffu today. Swapped out the factory clarion amp hidden in the cargo bin for an aftermarket one. Went for a test drive with the music blaring and over revved it a bit. Next turn I realized I had no power steering. Looks like I snapped the belt. I'm hoping that's all...will have to figure it out this week.

$20 for all 4 belts at Oreilly, that was easy. Put the p/s one on quickly, will put the others on when I have more time.

Woot! What's this more time stuff though? Gotta get her back on the road. hahahahahaha

Saturday was a bittersweet day as we traded the P5 in after 10+ years. :`( Have a lot of good memories with good ol' Karen but the rust was slowly taking her away from us. :( Given all of the rust I was surprised that they gave us $700 for her. Thought I'd have to fight to get $500 as both rear quarters, both rockers, the hood, all threes sides of the windshield frame and all four doors were showing signs and that's not considering the undercarriage. We passed the keys for the 3 to Kaila and Tam is now driving a 2016.5 CX-5 AWD GT w/Tech. Both are very happy. lol

Still miss my p5! Love the new ride jeff! So you did pretty well? You got the loyalty, the service and lease special offers?

I'm sure and know I will miss Karen for some time to come. I think we did pretty well but it's our first time leasing so the break down was foreign to me. MSRP was $31980 and we got $750 for the loyalty lease, $500 for the step-up program (apparently something new they are offering where you get the money for upgrading to a bigger vehicle), $700 for the P5 and $300 cash. Adjusted capitalized cost is $28687 with a residual of $19507 and our payment with the Xzilon Green exterior/interior protection plan is $285 for 36mos @ 12K per year. Looking on MazdaUSA.com the current lease offer for a 2016.5 FWD Sport is $279.

What about veteran?

Nope, didn't qualify. The veteran rebate is for active duty, reservists or veterans/retirees within two years of separation/retirement. I've now been separated 22yrs!

Looking forward to it. Replaced all the drive belts, changed the oil, and replaced the air filter yesterday. Getting new Yokohama S.Drives mounted tomorrow. Racing Beat rollbars coming in the next few days should compliment the Racing Beat springs and Tokico Blues I installed a few months ago. I also ordered a smaller steering wheel (really so I could put a spacer in to get it closer to me), helmet, and shoes. Don't really need the shoes...but that'll give me a little extra leg room. Last thing I need to do, is bushings. However, that's going to be an involved process and a few things Mazdatrix recommends just replacing the whole linkage rather than fiddle with the bushing.

I really wanted to get my sways on, but no time before Thursday

I think I just quadrupled my grip. Before, I could get the inside tire to squeal pulling out of side street. Now? Not a peep, I have to go well beyond reasonable street cornering speeds to get these Yokohamas to start howling. Oh, and they look badass too!
