NEMOC Random BS Thread

Don't know.

The Bilstein sales ad says: "The shock body is then treated with a special paint finish durable enough to withstand grueling 240-hour salt spray tests. The finished body is mated with a solid, induction-hardened steel chrome plated and polished shaft, machined valving components and highest quality seals. "

woohoo! They're actually forecasting 70 degrees in the Hartford area for the next THREE DAYS!!

Taking the 8 to work tomorrow and friday for sure!

Morning gang! Damn Oleg, what's up with failing coilovers lately? I know of 4 people who have issues with them.

Aren't Bilstein PSS3s basically stock-like as far as finish and metal goes? Painted yellow and such?

Yea but they are almost 2400 bucks aren' they?

Looks like we will have to bail on Myrtle Beach. Do not want to buy another set. Will take the fronts off and send they to Eibach to be rebuilt. Probably take a week or so.

Nuts

That sucks Bruce! Can't you install the stockers and still make your trip?

Good Morning everyone!

Are coilovers really that finicky?

The biggest issue is our NE location. Salt, sand, etc. It gets inside everything. Of course there are other reasons for failure, but that's what I see/hear. We pulled out Dan's coilovers and boy were they in bad shape.

So you're saying I should move to a non-sandy/salty state if I want coilovers to survive? What does that leave you with.... hmm...

Good Morning everyone!

I could but not really worth the effort, besides the look would kill me. So we will cancel SC but still doing Washington DC as we had planned but stay a few more days there.

Not sure. 1st set I have had. The rears blew last spring but they rebuilt them for free. There was no warranty so that was good of them. I figure to rebuild the fronts will run about 500 bucks.

Problem I have is I need a set year round. May have lasted longer if just used them in the summer? Who knows. I like the adjustability for height and dampening. No complaints there. May just be part of the beast.

Next set I get, will see about finding a local supplier that can rebuild them locally. Live and learn

Well, if the 8 stays in the garage for most of the winter it should be fine. There's a huge difference in the effects of having a car outside, especially for me since I live so near the ocean water.

You sure? Mine are MS but are made by Eibach.

Yup I am positive they are made by KW for the speed3's.

The real difference between the two is the spring rate. The Mazdaspeed versions actually being stiffer. 400/290 versus the KW's 375/260. So they say the KWs are a better ride for the street.

Also KW has a lifetime warranty when the Mazdaspeed versions have 1 year.

$500 sounds high for a rebuild. Have you contacted Eibach to see what the rebuild cost is like?

Sorry to hear that you're bailing on SC. I'm still going. I am actually leaving tonight for a 4-day trip to Seattle, coming back, resting 1 day, then off to SC.

Yup, already called them yesterday. was 180 plus parts per shock. figure 200/per, 400 for both and shipping probably 100 buks for a round trip.

Yup kind of sad not to be going. Now to see if I can get my money back.

*bad influence alert*

Damn, given their record, it might be better to cut your losses and buy those KW's with a lifetime warranty.

Agreed but i'd rather spend the 500 now and maybe in a few years, change but with shipping, it's close to 2000 bucks. Not happening this year, daughter getting married an all.
