NEMOC Random BS Thread

Morning all. Sun is out finally. Car has been in the garage since Wednesday.

Will be in Marlboro on Weds. Anyone want to get together for dinner?

Hmm. I might go. Portland is just down the road from me.

I need to figure out why my miata is running like s*** though.

So over the past 2-3 days the MS6 has developed a knocking feeling/sound from the steering. If I turn the wheel and switch direction it knocks a few times. I also feel it while driving. Any thoughts?
Knocking feel from steering on Mazdaspeed6

In other news, Amanda is beginning to realize that owning a vehicle that gets 18mpg is not wise if we are going to move to New Hampshire. We went and drove a Honda Fit 5spd and Mazda 2 5spd today. I'm sorry Mazda, but Honda makes a better car for the same price. We didn't buy anything (yet). The Fit has rear doors that open to 90 degrees. The rear seats fold flat. You can also flip the rear seats up to fit cargo in (such as a 10spd bike or a big screen TV). The fit also has a telescoping steering wheel and USB iPod integration. Small touches that make a big difference. I will admit that Honda's engine is more rev happy while the Mazda showed better low end torque and a little more grunt when you got on the gas...but acceleration felt about the same between the two.

Running some numbers, she can save $200-250 per month by downgrading. That's a combination of the lower car payment and the improved gas mileage. I think we'll probably wait until we buy a house though. That way we won't have to pay sales tax or excise tax (go NH!).

If it happens when turning, CV joint? bearing?

Have you looked at the Ford Fiesta? Bigger motor, 1.6 compared to the 1.5. There is a town/city tax when you get the car registered, which is equivalent to the Mass Excise tax, at least in Nashua.

Just another year passed. Don't feel any different. Time to get things really moving.

Happy birthday Josh.
