NEMOC Random BS Thread

We were going to look at the Fiesta. They didn't have one with a stick shift at the place we went, and the service was horrible so we walked away. (Herb Chambers in Westboro). Had they been nicer we probably would have taken the only Fusion stick shift they had on the lot for a spin but it wasn't worth it.

Bruce, not only does it happen when turning, but I can feel/hear the clunking when driving straight over rough pavement. I thought it might be a loose bolt in the suspension but I didn't see anything. The car drives straight and true with no vibrations at 70mph so this has me puzzled. I still have the extended warranty but I want to get a feel for what it is before I pay someone to diagnose it. It'll cost me $60-100 whether they find something or not.

Thanks Jenn and Bruce. Not moving...yet. Just time for some life changes.

Always thinking CV joint as well.

The fit is a decent little car. I almost purchased one back in March, but I decided to hold on to the forester for a little while longer.

The fiesta seems to have more going for it than that mazda 2. I'd vastly prefer a fiesta.

I'm waiting for the 2012 focus hatch though..

How about sway bar endlinks or brackets? You would have to get it up on a lift to check for loose suspension parts.

+1 on both comments. The Fiesta has a 6 speed auto as well. 2 is only a 5 speed auto

happy monday!
my p5 is still pulling left after getting alignment. either they did something wrong, didnt do anything, or there is a problem i gotta figure out

^ I'll ask the mechanic....

Does it pull left all the time? Does it drive straight when you let go of the wheel?

I should drop my miata off with James.

She needs a bit of work, and either I don't know how to do it, or I don't have the time to do it.

right now its all the time. with stock wheels it would roll straight until gave it some good throttle, then it would pull right.

Morning all. Had a nice drive to Brattleboro VT yesterday. Leaves are starting to turn.

Josh, I just noticed that the calipers are red. Is that new?

I'm at the stealership with the MS6. I can reliably reproduce the pop at a stop. All I have to do is turn the wheel 90 degrees then reverse direction and it will pop a single time as soon as you reverse direction. You can feel it in the brake pedal too. It will happen on the road when weight is disrupted mid-corner. For example, while accelerating on a highway on ramp that has a tight radius, if you zig-zag a little you can get it to pop several times over and over again.

Hopefully the technicians can figure out what it is. It should be covered by the extended warranty but if they can't find anything I'm out the $95 diagnostic.

EDIT:
Verdict is that the steering shaft needs to be disassembled and lubricated to the tune of $125. Not covered by the warranty so basically I have to pay the additional $30 over the diagnostic fee. Let's hope this fixes it, otherwise there will be hell to pay.
