Hi guys,

After 25k miles with my stock rims and crappy stock tires, i finally decided to get some new rims and tires. I'm currently eyeing the O.Z. Tribe Evo and the Kumho ECSTA ASX. Can you guys give me some suggestions or advices about this combination??..thanks!

I don't know about the wheels, but the tires are a great deal. I am very happy with mine after 10,000 miles. Of coarse I have 16's on a Protege, but I assume you will get similar results. What size wheels are you looking at?

I am pretty sure I would be happy with my Kumhos, but i never had my car aligned after I lowered it. 5k miles and my front tires are nearly gone.

Yep. It's your own fault. A $50 alignment would have saved $400 worth of tires. (shrug)

RumcokeBoy: as long as you can get them in the right offset, you should be good to go. Are you staying with the factory size or are you upgrading to a wider tire?

I like 'em. (thumb)

Stick to an offset of between +45 and +52 and you'll be all set.

edit: Tire Rack only has them in 8" width. Unless you can find them in a 7" width, you'll have to upsize to a 225 tire. With that size tire, you'll need a minimum of a +48 offset.

Thanks GoldWing,

I understand the wheel on tire rack has only 8 inches. However, the website keep saying the recommanded tire size is 205/50-17. Plus where can I find out the offset of that wheel?? Sorrie this is the first time i purchase aftermarket wheels.

They're recommending that tire because it's the stock size. Their system isn't set up to give accurate info when you change external tire dimensions and since the wheel is an inch and a half wider than stock, there's no way a stock tire would fit.

I have no idea what the offset is on those. I searched around the intarweb for a while yesterday and couldn't find a damn thing. O.Z.'s web site really sucks.

hahaha....me neither i can't get the damn offset of those rims..thanks goldwing

i would think its going to be 48mm.... only b/c some of their other new wheels are the same size 17x8 and have an offset of 48mm... ease of machining i would think that would be the same... but i would just wait a bit and see what the site says

Ok, I think I found something.

This pdf file seems to suggest that the Tribe EVO will be available in June in the 17x8 size with a 5-lug pattern and between 35-50mm offset.

At least that's how I decipher it.

And this site would seem to agree (though I admit my Japanese is more than a little rusty).

I still think an 8-inch wide wheel is pushing it but it might work.

Thanks for all the pointers guys...I wrote an email to tire rack and ask similar questions (offset and etc.). Hopefully, they will reply me and get to the end of this.

GoldWing: So do you recommand me to get a 8" wide rims or just stick with the 7" wide?

Hmmm... looks like my last reply got lost in the upgrade.

No, I would not recommend 8" wide wheels.
