Need opinions on self-designed # ..

Wasn't sure what section to post this in, but figuring that this one's looked at pretty often -- y'know.

So I'm painting part of my Gemini Composites CF hood Titanium, and I know where I want to paint it -- but I want to leave a '#1276' in carbon fiber. I didn't want the font to be huge, or big and bulky .. and I spent awhile digging through various font styles and didn't come up with anything I liked.

I'm not the most fabulously artistic person in the world, but I thought I'd take a shot at designing/sketching my own '#1276'. This is what I came up with:

Unfortunately, my PS skills are nonexistent -- but just pretend that it's all the same color with solid edges and stuff, LOL. Though if anyone is bored at work or at home, and wants to do a girl a favor and clean this up, I'd <3 j00 forevAr.

.. Butyeah. Opinions? And please, BE HONEST!

So I did s'more poking around on other programs, and found a new font.

So here's the two, side-by-side, for comparison -- both resized to give good perspective. Still waiting on opinions .. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Buuuuueller?

I can't see it because I'm a weird firewall, but I like the idea.. are you painting the entire hood the color of your car? and then leaving a small space of bare CF with your prod #? I like the idea.

side note: it would look really nice if you did it kinda small right above the drivers side headlight, kinda like a saleen :)

That's what I was thinking - above the ds headlight...subtle, not ricey. I actually like your font better Rush, versus the other font. I think if it's cleaned up, solid black, it will look great!

Actually, I'm only painting part of it Titanium .. I asked for some PS help, and Rogue was nice enough to do this for me:

I'm only painting the 'indented' portion Titanium .. I'm leaving the grill, eyelids, and the 'outer' perimeter of the hood CF. I can't paint more than that, I just love the look of CF too much, haha.

Ehhh .. My driver's side is getting too cluttered. I have the 'Mazdaspeed' grill emblem on the driver's side, and I have the 'In Memory Of 1338' along my driver's side outer a-pillar. Take a look at the file I attached -- that's what I was thinking of doing, tho' obviously with a different font, LOL.

Have you seen Brian MP5T's hood?
Maybe put your number like that on the left side or flush against the windshield?

Hard to do Brian's hood, since I'm not painting that section of my hood. Everything in front of the vent, along with both sides, is remaining unpainted -- like in that image I attached in my last post.

And here's a cleaned up version of my sketch, compliments of Rickman, who I shall love forevAr.

Edit: The main reason I'm leaning towards the passenger side of the hood, by the windshield, is cause I think the driver's side is getting 'weighted'. I have my MAZDASPEED badge on the driver's side of my grill, and I have the 'In Memory Of 1338' along the outer driver's side a-pillar. I figured that if I put the '#1276' on the passenger side .. it'd even things out.

it looks good there, or maybe down along the front of the "indented" part.

.. That location could be good, cause it balances out against the Mazdaspeed in the grill. Arg, decisions!

Any chance you could PS the new decal on in the 'original' location, where I plopped it in that first pathetic try I made a few posts back, up by the windshield? LOL .. Then I can sit here and mentally beat myself up trying to decide which I prefer.

i say go with what Rogue just did. I also think it would look cool to bold the letters a little bit more , but then again the text style is already pretty different and stands out nicely.;)

If you're gunna do it it needs to be more subtle... maybe even have them do a reverse stencil on the CF outer section instead.

... and damn, you really need some mirror chickens on that car... :)

Good idea and I like the original font you sketched....but don't really like the painting idea (example pic of car). Just too busy with changing colors IMO - looks ricey.
