what size tires should i run on a 18x8.5? any thoughts or ideas would be helpful thanks

235/40 would be a good fit. You'll need a roll in the rear more than likely.

That wide and that small an offset? I don't want to think about how far those are going to stick out in comparison to stock. Rolling may not be enough, especially if he adds lowering springs to the mix at some point.
