My Spool Intake install

I bought a barely used Spool intake from a cool dude here on the forum. It was an interesting install. Before I bought it I was thinking no biggie, this should be a peice of cake. I've put these in before and it was easy. I get started and notice the stock anti freeze deal has to move, no problem, there are tons of holes. I start to look at the fit and it doesn't look like it will go nice and easy ANYWHERE!....hmmm I call Spool and they ask the year of the car.....come to find out I have an intake for a 2003 and I need another different bracket....I have the blue which is 2003.5, oh well....I keep looking.

I come to the conclusion the bracket will not fit with the pre welded on nuts on the back of the bracket. I pull out the trusty grinder and shear one off. Cool, now the stock bolts can be used and the bracket sits flush down. Next I did not like the kinda shinny intake tube with the blue/brownish welds. I take a Walmart run and get some textured black spray paint and primer, I scuff that baby up and paint it. I then install it and all is good except of a nasty red reducer, I go to a local rice parts shop and pick up the wrong size reducer, thanks guys. I use the old red reducer and make it work.

I am the make it work MAN! This weekend I will be moving the bottle closer to the fender so it's not shoved over to the fans so far. More grinder work.

It sounds great, I get a neat suck whoosh before it hits boost and I love it. The seat dyno thinks I get a bit more power while NOT in boost, cool I like it.....the turkey is KICK ASS! and I love to hit it where ever I can. I need to take a quick video soon and post it here.

Over all great product, be sure to order the right one, duh. I wish I had some kind of directions, but no biggie.

Oh yea, I installed a nice thick hose around the hole so it doesn't rub my intake.

Don't quite understand why your car would be different??? Then again don't know the difference between 03/03.5 other than cosmetic!
Nice paint job! Do you think it will hold up???

looks good! You should have looked into the injen intake its a much better design. Thats really half of an intake, were as injen is a full system. You can get it in black too! And it is pre drilled for you temp. sensor.

not sure where he got it, but i used a silicone hose and slit it. then used some silicone adhesive on the inside to stick it around the edge.

I jsut took a silicone hose and slit it and stuck it around the hole. I didn't use anything to hold it in, and it's been fine. I have had it like this for a few months.

Whats up skill, I', in the springfield/Fairfax area. I have a 03.5 titanium Speed. I posted something up in the NE Virginia section about trying to put a meet together sometime soon. post up if you would be interested?
