My Spool Intake install

"I pretty sure the whole point of the CAI being located down into the fenderwell is because the air is cooler, thus it is cooler than the air inside the engine bay. If you are sucking in cooler air from the fenderwell, but your IAT sensor is registering the warmer air of the engine bay, then your ECU is not properly adjusting for the cooler air."

I don't know, you may be right. Any help here people?
I emailed Spool about this.

I'm pretty sure I am right... and I don't mean that in an arrogant way :).

The whole point of the sensor is to read the incoming air temp. By having the IAT sensor just sitting in the engine bay, you are not getting an accurate reading of the incoming air which is cooler. Thus, it is equivalent to running an open cone because an open cone takes in the engine compartment air.

Perhaps the best thing to do is to drill a holeinto your CAI pipe for the sensor. Make sure to drill a whole that is the same diameter as the stock size whole that the sensor plugs into. Then use a round rubber grommet to go around the the whole that you drilled out, I'm assuming that the stock hole is around .5". This will give you a seal for when you plug in the IAT sensor.

Hope this makes sense :) ....

I'm not sure it's needed. If anything a colder reading will enrich the mix even more. I always thought we had a rich mix anyway. It may be better for the temp sensor to read a higher reading.

finally installed my filter. is it just me or does it feel like the filter doesnt go in all the way? oh well, its secure, and it was a b**** to get on. thanks for the help guys.

my brother and i were experimenting with the bpv turkey noise. it seems like the only time it actually sounds like a turkey outside is if a quick burst of air is sent through. for example, if i go in 2nd gear from 2k rpm all the way to full boost, it will sound like a nice woosh. however, if i downshift to from around 40 mph and quickly let off the throttle, i will get a louder turkey noise. i will try more later. (no matter what, though, it will sound like a turkey from inside the cabin. the thing is, sometimes, the outside sounds like a nice woosh)
