my new mazda6

+1

Nice but I prefer the look of the US personally. The EU version looks sportier and I happen to feel the US version appears a little more luxurious. They are, however, both great looking vehicles.

Having just purchased a Mz6 GT V6 (black on black) I have to say that it's no slouch in the looks deparment. As far as it's length and exterior design I'm finding that it's pretty damned sexy at the majority of angles. In fact I find it better looking than my MS3 and conveys a very Jaguar XF look- especially from the rear 3/4's low angle. I'll be posting pics soon. One things for sure the car looks a helluva lot better in person than in photos. I think photos really fail to highlight those subtle sheetmetal design details that really make the shape pop.

And some of you really need to drive one hard before passing judgement. The car defintely responds well to being pushed. I think many journalists and people who have test driven the new 6 haven't driven it hard enough to see it's real personality come through. When I first test drove it close to a year ago, I drove it "normally" and didn't push it, and while I left relatively impressed by the package but not floored by the performance. Truth be told I decided to take the plunge because I had faith that Mazda designed the 6 like they did every other Mazda I purchased from them: a car when pushed would really show it's zoom-zoom heritage. FYI The MS3 didn't really fit this mold since it was arguable, and relatively speakingi n zoom-zoom mode every time I twisted the key.

I came from a MS3 and find the new 6, different but, just as engaging to drive. The V6 is very smooth and turbine-like and it loves being thrown into a corner. Sure it doesn't corner as flat as my MS3, but it's arguably more fun since it's a helluva lot more refined and composed on rough pavement and isn't pulling at it's chain 24/7. While the MS3 is a decent DD, the sounds (gurgling exhaust) and ride (allowing every nook and cranny of the road to come through) always remind you your in a car designed for balls to the wall performance. The 6 is much more Audi in it's personality (only with arguably better reliability and better road feel).

I know its hard to embrace change...I for one thinks Mazda knows what they're doing (I'm on my 7th). Sure they've made a few missteps over the years but those were gross missteps (e.g.1998-02 Mazda 626). This generation of cars (3, CX -7/9) have all been stunning products for the price point. The new 6 is no different- well it is for those of you who yearn for the older design, but personally I think the changes Mazda made are for the better. My lean 6'4" frame feels great in the new cabin and my kids love the extra room. Sure the seats could stand a little more bolstering and the glovebox is small but those are just nit picks in what I think is an otherwise very well-executed update.

And please stop comparing it to Camry and Accord. Those cars are not even in the same class. Like I said the new 6 (in GT form) is more Audi than Camry--I've tsted all of them...

I really grappled over trading my MS3 for the 6 but I'm feeling no remorse. In fact I'm feeling great about my decision.

I definitely agree. The EU version is not anything special. I'd be happy to have any 6

The Euro 6 is special, it's the original design for the car, not a watered down version for the US. I love the US 6, in Grand Touring trim, anything else just doesn't look right to me, and it's also a couple grand more then a EX-L V6 Navi Honda Accord and like I've stated before I would rather go and buy the Accord.

Definitely like the european version better! They should bring it to the US.
I like the US version's looks much better. The Euro version looks very similar to the US in the front but the rear looks cheapo. The rear looks like the rear of the current Mazda 3 which looks much worse than the prev gen Mazda 3. And for those who compare the current Mazda6 to Accord, please! The 6 is a much more fun to drive than the Accord. I recently drove my friend's new Accord and it was quite boring - not as mind-numbing as the Camry for sure, but no comparison to the 6.
BTW, I once got the prev gen 6 as a loaner and I though did feel that it was a bit more engaging to drive, I feel my current gen 6 is quite good compared to it. The current 6 is almost there in the fun department and "much" better in the refinement department (and styling in my opinion). In fact, if I would rather take the prev gen Mazda 3 any day compared to the prev gen 6, if I didn't care about refinement or spaciousness and just have driving fun as my top priority in that price range. Now, the Mazdaspeed6 may be a completely different story I would guess, but I haven't driven it.
I love my 2009 Mazda6 s GT and enjoy driving it every time I drive it. It's an excellent choice for someone looking for a spacious, refined family car that's also exciting to drive in this price category. BTW the V6 GT is more value for money in my opinion for the cool features like Xenon, keyless start, blind-spot monitoring, rain-sensing wipers, and auto-dimming even exterior mirrors. I used to own a BMW 3 series a while ago and though this 6 is not the same, I very much enjoy driving the 6.

^^^I guess it's just because my needs are somewhat different and the fact that I am still a little angry that we don't get the hatch or the wagon. I just can't get over how different the two cars (Europe's and US's) are I disagree the rear of the EU spec 6 is NOT worse then the new gen Mazda3 nor is it worse then the pervious gen Mazda3.
It works with the design of the car, everyone hated the 2010 Mazda3 and now more and more people are forgetting the smile and seeing an outstanding car.
I never once said the Mazda6 wasn't a great car, I even said I would drive one in GT trim but anything else just doesn't appeal to me.
But I do like the Accord in a few of it's trims and I enjoy the coupe a lot.

I also love driving it

I have to echo your experience. The new 6 delivers a nice balance between being fun to drive when you want to and being very civil and comfrotable when you just want to chill. People have laughed when I say it drives like a german car (e.g. Audi), but the more I drive it the more accurate I feel this assessment is. The suspension both soaks up bumps while being extremely responsive. The V6 also does a great job moving this car. Although it's grown it doesn't drive like a big car. The only criticism I have is the tranny which tends to shift a bit hard at times. Then again I had a passenger the other day comment on how smoothly it shifted (he owned a late model Audi A6). So who knows, maybe I'm just too sensitive.
