Picking up my car today with my new FMIC!!! Look up here later, and I will have some pix posted. Let me know what you think once I post them.

i didn't bother to start my own thread before, but this is my FMIC fabbed by SPD racing... prototype for a production model:

Looks nice filling up the opening like that, but have you noticed any problems with water temps? Seems like that FMIC would completely block one of the main sources of air flow to the radiator...

I have had the fmic for about a month now, and i have had zero problems with water temps. Even with the AC on full blast, the water temp is cooler than it ever was before (1 tick below center). I am told by the guys at SPD that the IC is situated so that it funnels more air up to the radiatior

I have yet to feel heat soak, even on 2 hour freeway drives.
The bigger turbo may come someday.

Plus it looks damn cool. When I talk to SRT-4's and EVO's I can win the "my intercooler is bigger than yours" game!

What is the advantage of installing something like this with out a bigger turbo and tuning?

Reducing heat soak?

That, and an overall cooler air charge. Cooler air means more O2 in a given volume which means more power.

I definitely think it "looks cool" but if you don't intend on doing anything else it most likely was just a waste. Hopefully there's more to come because, with some forged internals, your car will graduate HS and college all at once!

So yeah... how much did this bad boy set you back?

I'm reluctant to throw a ton of money into my car... that money could just be put into an EVO or an STi. even still... congrats!! definitely looks bad ass!

Freeway isn't the prime time to soak. You are hauling butt in open air then so airflow isn't an issue. It's stop and go and hard runs that soak the car.

Either way Polish up those endtanks, if you are gonna floss it, FLOSS IT (2thumbs)

Very cool! How much... and would they be willing to do another? ;) Is that still the plastic pipe going to the intake? Did you keep the bpv setup as well as that bov? Any cutting involved? sry for the 20 questions. hehe

No, just bov. No, the lower IC pipe is just black steel.

Yes they are doing a production version that they will be selling soon (so i am told) No cutting, but you need to remove the lame plastic that sits under the bumper (just bolted on).
