Dex, man so sorry to hear about this. Glad your ok.

Just curious though, was there any ice or snow invloved?

thanks newf. : \

i dont know. i highly suspect there was black ice. ive gone through there, at faster speeds, in a stock 02 ES.

mazdaspeed mike: yeah i guess thats what happened. in the middle of the turn i started skidding to the middle/other lane. and so i pressed the brake, and i locked...or whatever...skidded...spun around...skidded backwards, into side of road...into ditch.

i still love my mazdaspeed.
(k)
come back baby, i wont hurt u anymore :(

i know EXACTLY how it feels dont feel sad, just be glad no one was hurt, and I know everyone always says that but it is true... It's not like your the only one.. People crash every day =[ BTW some words of hope my Mazdaspeed was thinking about being totaled and I just got it back from the shop after a month on friday, and it looks AND drives like new. The shops can work wonders just wait till you see it new again you will be just as excited as the first day you got it. Trust me.

i sure hope so man.

Hey Dex! I just saw your post. I am so sorry that happened to you. But yes; be thankful you are ok. I know how you must feel, though. In 1978, I was involved in a bad motorcycle accident, and I was hurt pretty bad. The bike was totalled. I struck sand entering I-10 at about 60mph in Tucson, AZ. I was not wearing a helmet. Sure; when it was all said and done; I was pissed at myself for being careless. But; enough about that.

Indeed; keep loving your MAZDASPEED, but don't accept it back, unless you are satisfied with the repair work. Take Care!! (thumb)

Sorry to hear this Dex. Glad you are okay and I hope it works out in the end.

my advice, if you get the car within a month or two....keep it until the end of summer, and sell it. as long as you don't loose too much money. Or maybe trade it next year on the new Mazda speed 3 :)

take care buddy.

i dont know man...ill probably lose money. i cant really afford to lose alot...i mean..i basically work all month now just to pay for the speed itself. i save about $50 a month, after buying gas and food for the week.

bleh. paying the deductable for the insurance puts my bank account to ... oh $0. :(

The most important thing to take away from automotive "incidents" is WHY they happened.
If you can learn the physics behind why your car ended upside down in a ditch, you will be a better driver.
That is where doing some autoXing, or taking some lapping schools at a track will help you.
The physics:
When you hit the brakes you shifted the weight of the car forward, therefore the rear tires had less traction, mix that with your steering inputs, and that is why the back end became the front end.
I know you don't want to, but try and play over your actions in your head, it might help you get over it!
I'm sorry for your loss, I hope everything works out well, and that the car is returned in PERFECT condition.
Bright side:
You're going to have the FRESHEST paint out of all of us!

"haha" you dont have to be a dick about it. and yes thank god i did not hit anyone else.

That sucks. Sorry that you had to learn the hard way. Just keep in mind NEVER hit the brakes when sliding in a front wheel drive car. If you would have just let off the throttle you probably would have been fine. (depending on how much you were staring to spin)

I hope others can learn from this.

If at all possible total your car. It will never be the exact same. There are some great body shops out there. Its just never the same again.
do you have gap insurance?

i knew as soon as i hit the brake i should have just let off the gas. but it was too ****** late. god im such a moron.

yes i have gap.
isnt it too late to total it?

if i total it , how will i get anther mazdaspeed? grr **** it im gonna get a ford festiva
:'( :'(

I have no idea if its too late to total it. Maybe go to a different body shop and get their opinion. It would be nice for you if they were able to total your car. Then with the gap insurance it would cover everything you still owed on the loan and you could go out and buy a 2003.5 mazdaspeed.

problem with that is that id have to put another down payment on the new car...and like i said, i have $0.

Did you get financing though mazda credit? Call up the dealer and ask if they would be able to finace you with no money down. Ask right away to speek to the finance person you delt with. The salesman will not know for sure. be sure to let them know what happened.
But if you cannot get it totaled..it just might work out better for you having it fixed.

I hope something works out for you.

n/m I should have better judgement then that.
sorry to hear :'(
