Well I just got back from the MS6 training down in Atlanta. It was held at Road Atlanta racetrack. I don't even know where to begin.. Umm... The car is badass and it is built like a tank. The engine is built for serious punishment, the transmission is built for serious punishment, everything was built to handle the upgrades. It wasn't thrown together as "other" Mazdaspeed vehicles seem to have been...
We drove in a tight autocross type course, then in a course where you launched the car at around 5-6k rpm (seriously) then tested the abs system and the dsc. Then on to the race track where they actually let us really test the cars. We reached speeds of around 110mph sometimes alittle faster in the straights. The cornering is amazing for such a big car. I can't even begin to relay how much I am in love with the DSC (dynamic stability control system), it waits till you are actually starting to slide before it reacts. The only way I can describe it is "it's like hitting the reset button on a video game".
The only failure they had to date (they have had 21 events with an avg of 50-100 people each day) is one suspension or motor mount on the car they were demonstrating the traction control. Thats the one where we were launching at 5-6k rpm. They figured it had over 950+ launches in this nature on it.
I'm not saying they are indestructable or the ultimate car but I am a car enthusiast and I loved every second I was in one.

mmmm sounds like fun. i hope i can convince my dad to replace the land cruiser with one

This is ridiculous! I'm scared to do even one 5-6k launch in my Saabaru WRX. 950 is *insane*. After winter weather is over, I think I may require an MS6 :D

I was suprised they didn't have clutch failures also.

my buddy just got back from a all expense-paid trip to arizona to test the ms6, he didnt have one bad thing to say about it... he said the clutch was godly.

any stats from the track that you went to? Im tired of hearing speculation.

0-60
1/4
60ft
breaking

I'm a noob here .... looking to pickup a 'moist silver' (sounds wilder than liquid platignum) speed6 in the next couple of weeks but need to get snows on the car ..... Ottawa is a snow zone! thinking of using high-grip allseasons ... and hoping the AWD does the rest! comments?

holy fricken hijack!! type "Winter tires" into the search function at the top of your screen

Think, search, Post

It was a road course so no real times were given. My seat of the pants 1/4 mile track (which usually is within .2-.4) with a good driver is a low 14 maybe a 14.2- 14.5.
Braking never faded and was quite strong. And believe me, we really pounded the brakes.

ward's auto say that the power/drivetrain is slated to be used in the new CX5 SUV Xover from Mazda...... it did feel very strong and robust on my test drive...also I hear that it is based on Volvo's AWD package.... all the better value in such a car!

i wish some down south would hurry up and track one of these... Im impatient

I think your butt dyno needs calabration if your saying 14.2

They had us do an autocross course against a new Subaru Legacy GT, a Audi A4, and a BMW 330i. Let me tell you that none of those cars were even remotely close as far as acceleration or handling abilities. If they think the new subaru does 14.3 then I garuntee you can get at least a 14.3-14.2 out of the MS6, maybe better.

it outhandled a 330i? did it have the sport package?? if really did outhandle a bmw with the handling package, that is definately a testimony to this car

I don't know about outhandled but it def. out accelerated it. I have no idea what the bmw had or didn't other than the heated seats because some joker had them on and let me tell you, those things work.

Thats what everyone there said, they were using the BMW as a benchmark. In my opinion the MS6 did better.

well, the new one has 18" wheels with the sport package, easiest way to tell. either way, it sounds like a damn impressive car to be able to take that kind of punishment

Do remember the feel of the pants impressions are going to be massively different from the guys in canada with 20-30F ambients, vs the guys in the south with 70-80F ambients. Right there thats about a 10-20% hp difference, just from the air temps. (Even higher if heatsoak is an issue on the car).
