My impression of the MS6

They can get away with it due to the Direct Injection. Fires the fuel directly in the combustion chamber at extremely high pressure, it's not only alot more efficent, but it acts as a cooler also. Pretty sure most cars will be going to it soon.

There are no tsb's as of yet for this car. They reccomend 6qts of 5w/30. Thats all the info. I could find right now.

Thanks BZZ

I haven't seen any TSB's, memo's, or anything in the specs that would indicate you can't use synthetic oil.

Thanks to you too M3. They said that 5W30 was suggested, but I thought it kinda wierd that they would say you CAN'T use synthetic.

haha i know i know... its just that im thinking about selling the speed for a S4 and i kind of wanted ppl to conform what i thought

Your thinking about buying a Vw over a Mazda. The s4's are nice, I have driven a couple, but seriously come on. A new Ms6 or a old S4..... Ms6 hands down. They look feel and drive better. Zoom Zoom

i ment for the price.. around 20-22k for the the Audi. The 2.7 tt is the s*** and 400whp is very easy and relatively cheap by goin with one of the APR kits and the k04 turbos... but whatever.. sorry for the thread jack

It seems like it could but you never know.

Ms6 Engine:
Re-designed 2.3 Block using stronger casting and increased oiling and cooling.
Re-designed 2.3 Head with stronger casting. and other stuff.
Steel crank,
Steel rods,
Full floating pistons,
Bigger diameter piston wrist pins,
Aluminum Intake manifold,
Oil cooler,
Don't have the book with me, I think I'm forgetting a couple of things.
Transmission:
Triple synchro 1-4th,
double synchro 5,6th.
Looks very beefy,
The power take off has its own oil pump and is water cooled.

My concern with altering the factory performance is two main things. One is the Pcm controls the boost pressure and actually monitiors it. It's going to take quite the effort to come up with something that will either trick the pcm or change the parameters.
The other is the fuel system. It is unlike anything made before, especially for Mazda. 1550+ psi of fuel pressure, Fuel injectors that need 120volts to fire, A/f ratios are leaner than anything you would normally see in a N/a car, let alone a F/i.

There is always a weak link, who knows what it is. I would be using caution and thinking things through before even attempting to modify it at this point.

So what's the word, can it handle more boost on the steel rods???? set aside the other complications. What is the average stock boost anyway? It sounds awesome, I'll have to drive one and compare.

I would definately choose a mazdaspeed6
I have driven my friends s4 and they have a lot of problems with their turbos going out
plus they don't look as clean, or attractive
the mps6 just stands out way more, to me that s4 just looks plain as crap
but still a very nice car
the mps6 is just a nicer car (in my opinon)
I bet the mps6 will have chip upgrades in the future, and make plenty of horsepower if that's what you are concered with!!!!

I was walking out to the parking lot yesterday after work and as I walked up to my MS6 surrounded by a myriad of other marques including A4s, Mercedes C- and M-classes, Infiniti G35 coupes and sedans, I thought "JFC...that thing looks mean in comparison don't it? Just wait until I drop it an inch or two...It'll look even meaner then!"

Most definitely one of the most sexier cars in the lot! And with lots of "go" to back it up baby!

Don't know, the rods were designed for this motor only so you would think.
The stock boost is 15.6psi in any climate due to the pcm controlling it.

Crank, rods, are forged. Pistons appear to be forged, or at least hyperleutic. Fuel system has two fuel pumps, one normal pressure and one high pressure. High press fuel line can vary in psi from 400 to around 1600 psi. Cylinder heads are completely (and I mean COMPLETELY) different then a standard 6i, as the fuel injector actually reaches the combustion chamber.

Just curious how you know the crank and rods are forged? All the info I have say they are steel, which you could make the assumption that they are forged, but never comes out and says it. Using that type of assumption if you check out the MS6 Training book (the white one, not the service highlights book) it shows some type of coating on the sides of the pistons, most likley a oil based coating (swan or something).
