My attempt at painting stock rims

Anyone know how to get paint OFF of a wheel w/o damaging it or the tire?

What exact color of Duplicolor paint did you use? I like the bronze look and I think it would look pretty good with my laser blue P5. Hell, Subaru has done bronze wheels with blue cars for years.

Good paint job, did you do it yourself or have it done? If you did it yourself, you could a do an easy How-To...I'd bet a lot of people would find it useful.

I used bronze color. I did do it myself. I don't think i am a good person to do a how to cause i did not try my hardest with this paint job. Keep in mind these are my winter rims that won't stay clean for long. I just wanted them to look less like poop.

All i did was masked off the tires, then sanded every rim carefully. I used preatty coarse sand paper, because i did not want any gloss on the rims. I wanted a very matte finish. Then i did two coats of primer, let it dry, 4-5 thin coats of paint, and then 2 coats of clear. That's it.
It took the longest to mask off the tires and sand the rims down. Painting all together took me 3.5 hours, maybe a little longer.

THIS IS MY POST #1000 : )

Man i love those tires. They honestly feel like performance tires but do soooo well in snow its not even funny. Got me through last winter that was pretty darn bad here in mass. Great tire great price.

Duuude long storry. I pretty much spent all weekend depressed..... Didn't even wash my car. I did change the sparkplugs though : (

Sorry guys i know i am a shithead.....

i hope you gonna have time to post the pics...see how it looks on the car, so HURRY UP! LOL

(thumb) Back on topic- the paint looks good on those rims. looks like you did a nice job. I used the duplicolor paint on my stock Miata rims a few years back. They lasted 2 winters without any chipping/flaking. I think I used 4 coats of paint and 1 or 2 coats of clear. I sold the car (and rims) after the 2nd winter, but they still looked good. They should last a while w/that color.

the wheels are going on the car this weekend. The federal tires i have on my rotas are completely worn, and with the rain we're getting here it's just dangerous.... no traction at all. Sorry it's taking me so long. I was actually planning on driving on my summer wheels/tires well into october, but i guess better safe then sorry....
Once again, sorry guys.... Hopefully i will be searching for nice summer tires soon. since the prices on summer tires are gonna go waaaay down in winter...

just put on one side. no need to put on for the winter. just to take a couple pics. then you can switch back to your summer rims

let's all buy cane a digital camera so he be able to take pics, how's that? please show us d riiiiims! (attn)
