MSP Wheels on Protege5

Just got some MSP wheels for my Protege5. I have to bore the hubs out? Does anyone know the measurements of how deep I have to bore? If I bore too deep the centercap won't go on. If I take measurements from my stock 16's, will it make difference. The MSP's are 17's and one inch wider.

When you put them on there is about a quarter of an inch gap. The people at the tire place said that spacers would just vibrate and make noise. So I have to bore it .

I'm pretty sure that MikeBlueP5 has them on his car if you want to PM him.

Gap where?

If your car is stock (no lowering springs) then you will be fine.

The size for the MSP and MP3 wheels are the same, I've been using MP3 wheels since May, nothing wrong at all.

cbcbd your car looks good with those wheels on. So MP3 and MSP wheels are direct fit for our P5's? I've been wanting some MP3 wheels, but can't find a good price on them. What size of tires?

Thanks :D Keep looking and searching, there are always some MP3 guys selling wheels. Maybe not as many as there used to be (more guys selling their MP3s  ). My new tires are 215/40s and size wise they are a very close match to my stock 190/50s so my speedometer stays the same.

A gap between the back of the wheel an where the rotor is.
Never heard of that? I'm still trying to figure out from where you mean and why that has anything to do with it. Just get the wheels, the "people at the tire place" have no idea what they're talking about in this case. If you want to ease your mind on the subject just PM MikeBlueP5 like pro5man suggested and ask him if he had to do anything to get the MSP wheels on his car.

MP3 and MSP wheels will fit just fine on a protege 5. The offset is really high (which is needed for a p5). I have my car lowered about 1.5" all around and i have the MSP wheels with the factory bridgestones and i promise you cant get these baby's to rub. Turning/jumping hills (not that ive tried) but they fit perfect. I think they were actually made for the P5 and decided to use them elsewhere, thats how well they fit.

Mike's car is the s*** too. I saw it in person not to long ago.

thanks matt, you havent seen my new hood or my new HIDs. I had the K2 HIDs like you and decided to get the philips stuff. Much whiter, mine were blue as hades.

PS- I do know where you are talking about that they are saying will be a 1/4" gap, its where the wheel meets the pad on the rotor. Where the wheel bolts up. I will run snap some shots up close of mine. (i have to use the new camera, so im just making excuses)

Thanks for chimming in MikeBlueP5 :D

The offset on the MSP and MP3 wheels is 50mm, fyi.

i cant remember if mine were 50 or higher, it seems like they were more like 53, or 55. I would have to pull one off and see, but you might be right.

yeah, KzA's Mp3 is at the shop up on the lift (he'll be boosted soon), I keep looking at his rims. Leaves me torn between keeping my car looking perfectly stock (sleeper) and starting down the truly dark path of appearance mods.

Problem solved. I had 18 inch Enkies and the hub rings stuck on the hubs. It took the tire shop an hour to figure this out when a brought the car back. MikeBluePro5 how much is your car lowered? What kind of springs? Any rubbing?

lowered using ground controls, and how far, i didnt measure and nope you cant make them rub! even if you try, the offset is too high on the wheels.

wow i really want some msp rims, would my tires that came with the p5 fit them though? how much do they cost around?

thanks,
matt
