MSP vs. Z06

Herb - I got the car from City. I live outside metro so you might only see me around occasionally. Let me tell you about boost, once you get some, all you want is MORE!!!! :D

how did you find city?,

I find them crooked as hell. I have heard nothing but horror stories from them.

Steele has a 2003.5 titanium on the lot. looks nice.

but for the extra 10000 over my car. with no sunroof, abs (i think) and no cruise. I would rather go aftermarket and get a hiboost or spool kit, lsd and clutch.

thats my opinion. I only paid 20000 cdn for my fully loaded 5

1) Reason for no sunroof - structural stability...keeps it all stiff. For that alone, I don't mind! :D
2) abs sucks ass...I hate the MSP's ABS, but it can be helpful at times
3) Cruise control would have been nice on the drive to Nashville...but I probably would have fallen asleep at the wheel..so again...thankful.
4) I don't know how you'd get all thse parts and install them for 10000$ CDN. The turbo installed and tuned right (and you will have to tune it) I would think would be at *least* 6k$ CDN. The LSD isn't an easy install either...unless you're a mechanic and can do all your own Labor I'm thinking there's no way to do 10k$ CDN to get to an MSP (or better) out of a p5 or ES, especially with shipping costs, etc. I think MAZDA planned the pricing out that way, to be honest.

Of course the stereo isn't worth that much (MSRP it's about $1k, but it's not *worth* that much (as parts of mine are being removed very soon)

Herb - The MSP is a whole different car for all that has been added to it. I had a yellowP5 for a year before so I know the differences. To do what they have done to the MSP to a P5 or any protege would cost alot of coin and the bonus is that the MSP is under warranty. I had considered keeping my 5 and modding but once I drove the MSP I knew that was the way to go. City is a bunch of asses but if you ride em right you get what you want. :)

its all in how you look at it. I can install a turbo. I know that much. the lsd I would need installed but I got a few guys at mazda that will do some favors for me ( thats how I got racing harts for free). I also know that hiboost and spool have given me quite reasonable shipping costs.

I could be into the turboe for probably 6000.

then looking at the clutch. another 1000.

then I have 3000 to play with. even with 2000 left I would be doing ok.

the lsd isnt the first thing to get. so lets say I buy a used fsde for 800 and go forged for 1200 and build it over time in my garage and drop the turboed bullit proof engine in when it was all bolted up.

I am still in the 10000 range. and I can do a lot of it myself and time is on my side. I am in no rush.......

thought from any of you is appreciated. I love hearing what people think. good or bad.

Robbie.

I can drop it on eibachs for 300.

stiffer anti sway bars a la mazdaspeed.

I dont see that being my biggest problem.

I can put money into that while I am bulding up the new motor.

I think it is feasable.

the P5 is a great handler to begin with. it wont take much to get it where it needs to be to contend with a Mazdaspeed.

there will be enough MP3 and Mazdaspeed parts arround to handle that end of it.
