MSP vs Nissan Sentra SE-R

I generally agree with your statement about srtaight line performance stock for stock...but in the curves the SE-R is a pig plain and simple(headshake
dude if ur gonna say that the msp is slower plz dont post in the msp section. ur evil

I drove a Spec V and MSP the same day when I was making test drives. MSP 'felt' way faster and meaner. Overall quality/looks made the decision for me.

hahahaahahahahaha I had and se r specV kid talk show much s*** to me not to long ago.. Said his car was the best thing in the world. I said he could take any of my cars and ANY race.

Anyways he didnt impress me or anyone eles at local autox. "hint hint, he didnt win when he picked the msp as his victim"

I got owned by one, did not know what it was....But my IC was heat soaked and I have a boost leak....He might of also had the boost turned up or boosted if NA (I have no clue), but I could not even keep up...

Uhhhh...the car isn't boosted.

I'm not a great driver (I guess the guy in the se-r wasnt either) but he had a much better 60' than I did but I caught up and beat him by .2 or .3 seconds in the 1/4 mile.

NEVER EVER EVER been beaten by a Spec V on the AutoX circuit or on the streets. Theres no way you can lose to a stock Spec V, unless you're not driving your car at the time.

Anyone who says anything different is a ******* MORON. No person EVER has recorded a faster time in the 1/4 or on a road course in a stock Spec V vs a stock MSP.

please dont compare solid rear axle to an MSP.
word^^^^that is one s*** design

any way,my fiance has one,and she is a VERY good diver, but I took it with out a problem.I also let her drive myMSP and she took me while I was driving her SE-r.

stock I ran a 15.2 1/4 in my MSP,and ran a 15.7 1/4 in her SE-r

and the SE-r doesn't respond well very well to mods.

I have a much harder time with my friends lancer ralliart.that ******* thing is quik, and responds VERY,VERY well to mods.intake and exhaust(just a muffler) it dynoed at 173hp at the wheels!

Sorry I just edited my statement...He had to have been boosted then, cause he had me by 2 car lengths and I was on the inside of the curve....
No need to appologize. I'm not the turbo police.

I just think there is something in play here that we aren't discussing. I've driven a few msps, including my own, and they all feel very different. Some much peppier than others all else (mods) being equal. I think between drivers, and the particular msp, you could have trouble with the sentra.

DAYUM(shocked)
what did it dyno at, stock?

whoo, how did i miss this thread?

the fastest POSTED stock 1/4 mile e.t. for a spec-v is 14.8, Plano_SEr. thats not too shabby, eh? point is, all you naysayers are tools. it IS a driver's race stock for stock, and gradually, mod for mod, the MSP gains an advantage. but dont forget, there are some VERY fast sentras out there, and while they may be sloppy looking, sloppy handling 4 door shitboxes, you can damn well bet theres someone in your area with a spec-v that will trounce you for all youre worth. i respect the MSP a lot, and a big part of their respectable owners. but most of this thread is garbage. MSP this, Spec-V that. i dont give a s***, say what you will about the car, and while it may not be the fastest thing on the planet, people forget the spec-v community is at a loss for aftermarket support when compared to the protege. oh well, there's no sense in arguing about it.

for comparison's sake, an otherwise stock spec-v with an FI-R turbo kit puts down roughly 250whp. on 6psi.

sometimes i wish i had a turbo, because making lots of power with a lot less money is captivating, but guys like me do it the old way. no boost, no nitrous, no nonsense. as far as handling, the car is only as good as the driver. i've seen many an MSP bow down to SRT-4s at Solo2 events. and at the same time, i've bowed to a few as well.

point is, be happy with the car you've got and quit trying to out-do everyone else. you may think you're some hot s*** when you lay a whoopin on a spec-v, but 99% of the other people around the world couldnt care less. i hope one day, people come to realize that modding cars is not a cutthroat competition.

kudos,
Phil

Can't we all just get along?

Here is my two cents. I was looking at the SE-R as well before I bought my MSP. I just wasn't excited about the look of the SE-R. Don't get me wrong, that's not my main concern. I love the early 90 SE-Rs (which include my NX2000). Those cars were ugly and boring but were great sleepers. You can't beat the mighty SR20DE engine. Many refer to it as bullet proof. This engine came from Nissan with a turbo in many cars in Japan and Europe. Unfortunately, the U.S. 240SX came with the truck engine, but the Japanese Silvia came with the SR20DE with turbo (SR20DET). I've even seen this engine in 300ZXs (Fairlady). Anyone remember the JUN Silvia from Japan running 8's in the quarter?

The guys I have met in past SE-R events are great. They're full of knowledge and all around just nice guys, especially in Texas. Wow, I think I just got way off the topic. Anyway, the Spec-V is a great car as well.

Sorry for the incoherent rambling.....I'm really sleepy.

well, i think the factor of spec-v and msp race depends on weather as well.. i have 2 friends with spec v's and one of them are modded fairly well, well we raced enough times, and the thing is on hot summer days the modded spec would beat me by like 3-4 cars but id beat the unmodded by a hair, on cold days however, i own the unmodded one but barely beat the modded one by 2 feet or so.. so its basically where you live and what the climate is like as well, i only have exhaust btw.. i say id own them both all the time if i had a unichip, the modded one has intake, headers, exhaust, yoko avs-es 100s,

also autocrossing wise, the spec beats me, not by much at all, but i blame it on the stock potenzas i have running at 13k right now.. he also btw has nismo suspension, rear swaybar, and short shifter... just didnt list them above because they werent drag related..
