MSP Engine Internals

My headgasket was in pieces. I am wondering why yours holds at 20psi and mine goes at 11-14??
detonation overheating many things. What symptoms did you have.
ANy time you are tuned improperly you raise the risk of high egt's, high cylinder pressures, detonation, preignition, etc.
Even faulty tolerance checks from the factory. Many things.

I got this from a reliable source. You guys might already know this.

But on the mazda speed, the trans. is different with upgraded internals. The axle shafts are beefier. He said nothing was done to the engine.

I think staying at about 165Whp would be OK, if you don't abuse it. But going higher could cause some problems without an upgraded trans. and axles.

rods and crank are forged. But the rods are not spec'd for high boost pressures
Not according to therepair manual from Mazda, The only partsd different from a regular protege is the turbo parts, That is right from the manual

BTW...I O-ringed my block. The head gasket on the block is dual staged like Perfworks says it is.

The clutch fork is supposed to be beefier to handle the better clutch in the MSP. And the axles are 24mm vs 22mm in the standard Protege...

Stutters

Have you had any problems with the FM kit?

Nope, the kit is great. Runs perfectly.

The ECU is stupid, but that'll be fixed eventually...

Any back firing issues? Or anything like that.

No...I haven't heard back fire from a modern car in forever.

Nope, mine sounds lik eturbo whine, BPV and Racing Beat muffler.

go to any drag strip and wait for an SRT to race with an upgraded exhuast. They back fire like a bastard but thats just the result of almost no exhuast restriction.

As for our cars with the turbo. Mine has a borla exhuast too and its one of the best sounding cars I have ever heard. Its not loud and never has that BS honda sound. Always deep and evil (laugh)

(werd) My car backfires everyday. I have the JIC Magic 2.5 in catback with ONE hi-flo cat. NEVER the Honda razzing sound, only the deep evil sound (laugh)

Just have to be different don't you...:p

Yes I do...I still retain the stock MP3 exhaust...Well, less the original manifold as the turbo manifold and turbo are there now.

Both cats and silencer still present.

Are you saying that the MSP can only have 165WHP or the MP3?

Both have gone much higher. The MP3 has seen over 250 whp as has a few P5s. However things get less relaible at that level. Bad shifting habbits and drag raccing will eventualy take there toll faster then they would on a car built for that power.
