MSP Engine Internals

long story short, the rods and pistons are the same factory pieces across the model range. They are not forged. I've seen them first hand....hell I almost caught the rod as it shot out of my block! The point is...if you plan on running higher boost levels and you want the peace of mind that comes with forged internals....DO IT BEFORE THERE IS A PROBLEM. Had i built my block FIRST I wouldn't be driving a new P5 today!!

If you want to beef up the internals all you should really worry about are the pistons, rods, and head gasket. The stock compressions ratio of 9.1:1 is fine for running 15-22psi on that small turbo. If you plan on getting serious (25-30psi) look into dropping down to 8.5:1.

The headgasket would be the first thing I would upgrade for you guys running 9-13psi. Seriously, listen to me...it's cheap and it'll save your motor!!

What's wrong w/ our stock head gaskets?

hp is not the worry, its torque. 180 is for bullitt proof meaning will only break under user stupidity.

Keep in mind there are absolutely no protege that have daily driven on 250 whp. NONE! The closest are the SWC cars that run about that and need rebuilds every 3 races.

What about Pirana's car?

He has dynoed over 250 whp and uses the car as a daily driver for any significant amount of time?

i have 270 have pushed 13 psi on stock internals and its ok. even ran it to 7200 before. also have pushed it to 143 mph.

forged internals are over rated. well tuned you dont need them for what you all are running with like 10 psi or whatever. i plan to run 20 daily or more soon with my new built motor.

but it is stupid they give you a forged crank and nothing else. thats like giving you a viper with a 5 hp briggs and straton motor. i am goin to put a better crank in anyways, and bearings, do it right do it once.

are they goin to add forged in the new 3 series stuff?

ow long hav you been at this power?
Is the car daily driven with boost?
Was that hp dynoed with exactly how the car runs day to day?

what is traction like in a car with that much power?? My V6 SHO on the bottle ran about 312hp and it was only good in straight line. Traction was a serious problem. Too weak a launch and it would bog, too high and it would just roast my drag radials. Also, axles became a concern with that much power. How are you holding up?

i got a question for you guy's!!! i got the whole msp turbo kit and the tranny w/lsd including msp ecu. im putting this in my p5 on this monday. whats the safest psi i sould run on it. im thinking around 10 psi with colder plugs and higher octane gas! is that pushing it?????? or am i cool???? also is putting in the lsd really worth it? i think it is but im tring to get a few opinions on this.
also i did noice one thig different about the msp engine next to my p5 engine. the msp block has an oil return line tapped into the frt of the lower section of the block. the p5 block doesnt.....not even a block of plate or anything like that. so this must mean that the msp block was made slightly different than the regular fs-de motor. just fyi for you guys ;) i also can get some pic's of the msp block since i have it sitting in my garage !
