MSP Clutch/Tranny issue.

Update: Mazda is going to cover the transmission under warranty. It apparently needs a serious rebuild and has metal shavings all in it. I'll try to find out more later.

Got my car back tonight and immediately put it up in the air to change out the shifter bushings and install a ss clutch line.. My neighbors totally freaked out about me already messing with the car after this whole incident.

Anyway, I'll update tomorrow with the actual repairs and whatnot. I'm exhausted right now though.

Is this true? (in reference to the Kia tranny)

No...The KIA motor is a BP, not an FS.

As far as I know, the bell housing do not bolt up to each other.

Last I heard the internals were still the same. I think if wheelhop was accounted for and the car was driven gently you can take at least 300ft-lbs of torque. Most I heard on a stock G25M-R was about 350ft-lbs. But don't expect a lot of drag launches. :p

I'll update this once I get back from work tonight with the actual warranty paperwork information. The total of it all had it not been under warranty was around $1300 (minus the ACT clutch, ss lines, bushings, and fluid).. Good luck and just hope the dealership is cool.

Can you pm me the reciept for your tranny. I would like to get a look at it. Mazda called me today and asked if they could look at the tranny. They said its gonna be 800 to do that. They think its the clutch but its only been in there since thursday so its highly unlikely. But my basic question is, out of that 1300 was that including the 800 from them taking it apart or is that in addition to. let me know

My receipt is in the car which is now *back* at Mazda due to the axle falling out of the tranny. Good times.

The $800 labor they want is to basically tear the tranny apart, diagnose the problem and if it IS "abuse", then that'll cover the new clutch. If they are all ready saying it the clutch, I'd take your car to another place and get an ACT Z66-HDSS clutch installed. It'll be cheaper labor-wise and a lot better of a clutch. You can get 'em for around $350ish and labor is normally around $300, so you're just at 600 instead of 1300.

If the car still does not run after the clutch install, then take it to Mazda as it'll be a tranny problem and that has a high chance of being covered.

Bueno?

The clutch was installed last wed. before it went to mazda. I had a local shop install it and they said it had to be somthing is the tranny. I had it towed from there to mazda, and mazda thinks its the clutch which is nearly impossible. So there supposed to be tearing it apart monday. But supposedly there flying in the district manager to see if anything is gonna be covered under warranty. Its definatly something in the tranny.

Possibly. The only reason the differential would seperate from the tranny as mine did was from dropping the clutch too often so it's obvious that the car hasn't been "granny'ed".. Just depends on the surrounding facts and dealership.
