hahaha nice...
So I might be getting to the car back tonight. I was at the shop for a couple hours today. The awr oil pan was resealed, it had been leaking pretty badly. The cylinder head is back on the car along with the stock intake manifold. We're removing the power steering and the AC too. Hahah oh boy, the good thing is that I will have a daily driver very soon (2thumbs) and the mazda will serve track duty as well as the weekend warrior.
Basically all that is left to install is the medieval passenger side motor mount, replace the broken exhaust hangers, and install the new msp specific endlinks.
I'm going to take a video of the exhaust at idle, can't wait to hear these cams!!!
Does anyone know what would cause the pressure in the coolant system to rise, causing the coolant the bubble and spew out of the radiator??
My guess it has something to do with the head gasket or the cylinder head wasn't properly resurfaced and is warped..
Any thoughts would be appreciated.. We fixed the valve ticking problem but now this is happening. I hope the head isn't crackedI would cry
Things we already checked are the thermostat, waterpump.
The head is coming back off the car monday morning.
Yeah definitely looks like a sleeper. I cant wait to see it and HEAR it in person.
How's the idle with the cams? I've got some twiggys and a spare head to do some work on and I'm curious if the stock ECU is going to be able to handle it. I'd rather not have to play with the idle as it's kind of a complicated process to change it (I think).
Did you raise the idle using the method outlined in the FSM or did you just play with the screw on the TB? Why did you have to adjust the idle though - would it not run at the stock settings? The decrease in vacuum probably has to do with the higher idle (more load on the engine). The idle is surprisingly good. We had to adjust the idle by slightly raising it up to 900 rpm, I'm impressed at how well the stock ecu is running. My vacuum now reads around 15hg idling, I believe this is due to the aggressive cams. I won't be on the stock setup for that much longer, just waiting on one key part to get here to than begin bolting on everything.
