msp build parts (preview!!....:)

I wonder what Crower uses for cam cores on their regrinds... might have to call them...

Hope to see your car up and running soon! Should be a beast

So I was just looking at this guys setup...it's gonna be slow. I mean come on...the guys forum name is "Sand"Speed how fast can it really be.

Kidding it's gonna be SOOO tight!

hahaha nice...:)

So I might be getting to the car back tonight. I was at the shop for a couple hours today. The awr oil pan was resealed, it had been leaking pretty badly. The cylinder head is back on the car along with the stock intake manifold. We're removing the power steering and the AC too. Hahah oh boy, the good thing is that I will have a daily driver very soon (2thumbs) and the mazda will serve track duty as well as the weekend warrior.

Basically all that is left to install is the medieval passenger side motor mount, replace the broken exhaust hangers, and install the new msp specific endlinks.
I'm going to take a video of the exhaust at idle, can't wait to hear these cams!!!

Wow, these are some good ass news Sander, glad to hear your beast is getting ready to do some serious damage to the streets of Florida..

No power steering and no AC? I didn't know you were gonna keep it as a weekend car. Why not get a roll cage and strip the interior while your at it?

Does anyone know what would cause the pressure in the coolant system to rise, causing the coolant the bubble and spew out of the radiator??
My guess it has something to do with the head gasket or the cylinder head wasn't properly resurfaced and is warped..

Any thoughts would be appreciated.. We fixed the valve ticking problem but now this is happening. I hope the head isn't cracked :( I would cry
Things we already checked are the thermostat, waterpump.

The head is coming back off the car monday morning.

Sander i was having the same problem, and problem solved when i bought here in Spain a JDM Thermostat, car runs perfect now with no problems.. check to see if you have coolant on your oil or oil in your coolant.. if not is the thermostat.

i feel your pain bro, hang in there
what about that coolant can siphon mod? are u runnin a catch can?

I got my car back!! I'm very surprised that the car is running fine on the stock ecu, we set the idle at around 900-1000rpm.
I've done everything you can do to the head, for those of you who don't know the specs are as follows..

PnP , 4 angle valve job, Supertech double valve springs/ 1mm over sized intake and exhaust valves/ titanium retainers, Crower cams (272in/268ex)

I went for a drive on the highway and punched it in 2nd gear merging onto the highway and got kicked back into the seat. The cams come alive like a bat outa' hell around 4600rpm, and screams up to 6300. They really changed the sound of the engine :) I'm sure I could stretch them past the 7000 mark but I want to wait until the E6X is in the car.

As you can see, I fixed up the bumper. After 4 plus years it was looking pretty rough. I really like the fog deletes, kinda makes the car look like a sleeper. I'm painting it tomorrow, so I probably be able to take some more pics Tuesday.

Whoo! Got to see the beast today! Looks and Sounds even more Badass! Those cams are crazy Sander. Car pulls nice even in its current state. Great to see it all coming together finally. My forearms are a little sore though! haha. Its been a long journey my friend.

How's the idle with the cams? I've got some twiggys and a spare head to do some work on and I'm curious if the stock ECU is going to be able to handle it. I'd rather not have to play with the idle as it's kind of a complicated process to change it (I think).

The idle is surprisingly good. We had to adjust the idle by slightly raising it up to 900 rpm, I'm impressed at how well the stock ecu is running. My vacuum now reads around 15hg idling, I believe this is due to the aggressive cams. I won't be on the stock setup for that much longer, just waiting on one key part to get here to than begin bolting on everything.

Did you raise the idle using the method outlined in the FSM or did you just play with the screw on the TB? Why did you have to adjust the idle though - would it not run at the stock settings? The decrease in vacuum probably has to do with the higher idle (more load on the engine).

Glad to hear she's finally running! When's a big turbo going in?

How's the no a/c thing going for ya so far? I NEED mine 90% of the year!

Thing sounds GOOOOOD!

Callie was in the car wondering what that sound was while we were talking, then you shut it off, and she realized it was your car.

And i won't ever be losing my power steering or A/C! lol

Subbin to see how your build goes!

And thanks again!

Your car looks super sleeper without the lip. Now, mine looks fast, but is lacking the oomph
