msp build parts (preview!!....:)

Did you raise the idle using the method outlined in the FSM or did you just play with the screw on the TB? Why did you have to adjust the idle though - would it not run at the stock settings? The decrease in vacuum probably has to do with the higher idle (more load on the engine).

Yes, we raised it by adjusting the screw on the TB. Before, the car would idle at around 600rpm, but would stall out very easily. I agree, there is more load and a lot more lift with these cams. (2thumbs)

Glad to hear she's finally running! When's a big turbo going in?

How's the no a/c thing going for ya so far? I NEED mine 90% of the year!

thanks bro! Once I get the thumper, which should hopefully be this week, it will need to be jethot coated. After that, the msp turbo setup is coming off and the big turbo is going on.

Thing sounds GOOOOOD!

Callie was in the car wondering what that sound was while we were talking, then you shut it off, and she realized it was your car.

And i won't ever be losing my power steering or A/C! lol

Subbin to see how your build goes!

And thanks again!

Your car looks super sleeper without the lip. Now, mine looks fast, but is lacking the oomph

hhaaha, thats funny! Tomorrow I'm putting the PS and AC back on...it was fun but I really miss power steering most of all.

Fresh paint and fog deletes:) EnJoy

The car is so black its hard to tell a lot of the detail. It's gonna be like a ghost on the highway too. Just two white wheels spinnin!

lipless? looks good mang!

I like the bump sign in the background, whats up with the sides of the bumper? they look like they are flared, you do a little some some?

thanks! The bumper is totally unaltered, just fresh primer and paint. All thats left to be done it some wetsanding, buffing, and polishing.

well, i got the car back. Man, I'm an idiot for taking the power steering out but I'm glad its back in now, the car is soooo fun to drive with PS.
Anyway, one problem fixed now another one starts. When I got back to my house and was siting there idling, I noticed the oil pressure light was flickering like crazy!!
So far I've come up with this
---oil pressure sensor is shot out or needs to be replaced ( possible short somewhere )
----something got into the oil pickup ( I had the oil pan resealed because it was leaking oil badly)
---excessive camshaft play/clearance
---bearings (motor was rebuilt 7,500 miles ago)
--- I just had the crank seal replaced but it seems to be leaking oil again
---the oil pump could be on its way out but I highly doubt it since the oil pressure was good when I drove around without powersteering

Also, there is oil spitting out of the exhaust at idle, perhaps the stock turbo seals aren't doing so good or it might just be carbon build up i and condensation in the exhaust system.

My car runs very very rich. There are two large cracks in the stock manifold.
I've got all brand new NGK spark plugs, NGK spark plug wires, new oem ignition coils.
I just reset the stock ecu...

Anyone have oil pressure problems???

you have a aftermarket oil pressure gauge? Im glad i have mine i tee'd it into my oil feed line for my turbo. As far as the oil pressure light to flickr your oil psi is going to have to be pretty low. Before i fixed my vacume leaks on my car when id press in the clutch the car would dip down real low and almost stall. i noticed tho that my oil psi gauge has to read like 5 psi for the gauge cluster light to flickr. If your gauge cluster is working correctly you need to find out whats causing your low oil pressure asap

First thing I'd try is drop the pan and check for blockage. Oil pressure gauge is on my list and egt.

The spitting out may be unburnt fuel from the exhaust leaks running rich at idle or worse a stuck valve allowing oil to be sucked up into the cylinders but thats your brand new worked head, right? Black or bluish smoke? Compression tester for like $20 at the local auto parts if you dont have one.

Argh, man, are you serious? I thought the point of a built engine was to have it last forever, LOL! Definitely let us know what the problem was.

I missed why you got rid of the MSP front lip? Were you just trying to go for a new look or something? The stock bumper with the fog deletes looks pretty sick but the lip gives the car a much more aggresive stance. Change is good though.
