Update*
**I forgot to update the post after the rebuild haha, So here are the rest of the pics.
*I got the car back a month ago and it runs amazing. Getting a tune and will be pushing around 12psi around summer.
Couldnt get too many pics, this was happening during school :/

So after months of finally getting tired of this oil leak, and having horrible oil blow by, I went to Tri-point to see what was wrong. They did a leak down test and told me one of my cylinders went bad. So I went to my mechanic and we decided to do a engine rebuild. I decided to go forged and bought the kit similar to the one crossover offers.
Here's what the kit looks like:

Wiseco forged pistons
K1 H-beam rods
Cometic MLS head gasket
ARP main and head studs
Clevite engine bearing set
OEM Mazda engine gaskets, oil seals, o-rings, oil pump, water pump etc.

Also a .020 overbore was needed for the new pistons.

Turns out the car over boosted and caused detonation on the first cylinder by a cheap boost controller the previous msp owner put on that I didn't even know about. This is what he found while taking out the piston from cylinder one. The piston broke in two places and pieces came off.

Along with the rebuild, Im getting my calipers painted yellow, removing that black mark on the rear bumper, replacing motor mounts, and fixing my trunk which refuses to open anymore.

congrats man, forged is the way to go, so much less on your mind every time you go into boost!

by the pix it looks like cyl 3 took a metallic dump. Good to see another one going forged. Good luck.

EDIT: I notice you said #1 cylinder.

Thanks! Yeah, I was always scared to go into boost because I was scared something like this would happen lol

Yeah, the other cyliners were fine, cylinder #1 had that broken piston along with some damage.

gl with build it gets expensive....

Yeah, I'm dropping about 4 grand into this build.. along with some other minor fixes.

damn you must have a fast machine shop. Most of the motors I have built have been a 2-3 week job at the machine shop, but that is at a major shop in Atlanta.

The machine shop is actually next door to the mechanic lol. It was at the machine shop for about 3 days

very good choice of parts.. im running that myself! i think you will be very happy with the setup.. 250whp is pretty easy to get out of this setup.. have you already welded your limited slip? if not.. might want to do that soon..
