Has anyone ever figured out if the brakes on the MS6 are a carryover from any other vehicle? I know they are stamped FoMoCo which is strange since it is a Mazda Vehicle. If it is a MS6 exclusive then why stamp them FoMoCo? I would like to put some Ceramic pads on my car to cut down on the brake dust. My preference would be Akebono pads, but I know they dont currently sell any for the MS6 so I am trying a different angle.

I thought that I recalled the brakes on the MS6 were a carry-over from the Volvo S80. You could try this angle.

I thought someone had determined Audi S4 pads (4.2l v8 model) fit on the front brakes of the MS6.
Correct. The part numbers for the FRONT S4 pads are the same as the MS6's. The rears are different though.

My Dealership Mechanic told me they were off the 1999-2005 Volvo S80. I placed an order that should be in Monday. If they fit I will let everyone know.

i need front brakes bad, and don't have enough pad left to wait for an online order to process and ship to me.
so any help with finding a part number so that i could go to napa and grab some today or tomorrow would be great.

being stamped FoMoCo is not strange, being a mazda vehicle. The oil dipstick also has this stamping. The Mazda6 has parts from the Ford Fusion. In fact, 34% of Mazda is owned by the Ford Motor Company (FoMoCo).

I'm new to this thread system.
I need serious help with my 2003 mazda 6. I can't get the rear rotors off.
I've tried everything they seem to be welded by rust around the bearing hole.
I've used penetrating oil and a 3 pound sledge hammer to no avial!!
Any ideas?

alot of parts on my speed 6 are stamped with FoMoCo... and the oil cap on the inside says ford on it and fits on any ford i beleive.. it fit on my 1993 ranger i have hahahaha. im getting the red mazdaspeed one when i get my upgraded block.

I'd definitely not go back to OEM if you need new rotors. Stoptech or several other brands have rotors for much less. You can essentially spend $500 and get 4 new rotors and pads that will be a great improvement over stock.

Unless you are tracking your car, both drilled and/or slotted are pretty useless for street driving. I especially hate drilled rotors, the added noise just isn't worth it. I'm not even found of slotted as they are usually more expensive. For street use, a rotor is a rotor as long as they are the same size. Pads are more critical. Seems most people want drilled/slotted just because of looks.

RockAuto has a nice cross-reference feature.

I have the 1.5 gen Mazda 6 and I share front with the Fusion and MKZ. Rears I share with PAGES of cars.
