MS3 vs. WRX

Keep in mind that 293whp and 293awhp is a big difference at the track.

Track or drag strip? Probably not such a big difference at a race course above autocross speeds from what I've heard.

I don't know, the MSP even though it was underpowered did/does very well on a track much better than you would expect.

Well, my P5-T had plenty of torque steer and wheel hop, even with upgraded motor mounts. The LSD on the MSP isn't all that wonderful, so I still say that the WRX is going to be a better drag car. Now, you can take the MSP and run from a roll all day long, but even when I had my FWD car in its torque steer and wheel hop glory, I would rather lose to an AWD car from a stop as opposed to a cheap win from a roll.

But that's just my .02.

Oh lol, drag course... I meant a road course, that's the kind of track I meant.(peep)

Good Heavens, are you talking about illicit street racing? If you are, I suppose I can understand your comment about a "cheap win", as you say. I, however, am not referring any such illegal activities. I am referring only to sanctioned competition events on a closed course with proper head gear and full insurance in which winning in a roll-on is the considered the polite alternative to winning by rudely jostling the other racers out of the way.

Oops.

(peep)

AWD>FWD This is an easy choice for me. The huge aftermarket for the wrx would another reason to go with the subaru.

To be honest, I would go with a 07 civic si if I went back to fwd. 240 whp n/a with a few mods, and no torque steer problems, because there is no low end torque lol.:)

Your average car insurance wont cover you on a race track or strip.

Thank you for that sobering message. I'm just joking. Uh, but what about autocross?

Gray area I guess... Public parking lots are usually covered, but competition isn't, lol

I most certainly have driven the MS3. a few weeks ago, mazda gave our dealership a MS3 to demo at our weekley meets held at the dealership. I work for Sansone Mazda in Jersey. I was personally sent to retrieve the car from Irwin Mazda, who had the car because they were showing it at a raceway park (Englishtown NJ) event over the weekend. I had a very invigorating drive with the car all the way up rt 9 and back to my dealership. Boost does not feel as strong as I would have thought in first gear (guessing its so that the front wheels can gain some traction) especially when compared with the MS6. However, it picks up alot more in second gear, and once you hit third gear its all over. The ability for this car to pull in third gear is amazing. The MS6 feels weak in comparison in this gear and its truly where the MS3 shines. If the production version of this car is half as good as the prototype I drove, no one who buys one will be dissapointed. Mazda has done the car and the fans right. The awd in the wrx does make it feel like it gets off the line faster but its minimal. The MS3 will catch up with the subie and not only catch up to it, but walk away smiling. Here are some pics from the night we had it at the dealer. Several members on this board attended the meet and know me personally. Im sure theyd be happy to vouch for me that I do indeed work for the dealership and also drove the car.

P.S. I was most pleased with the stock exhaust note. Just the perfect pitch. Very deep and aggressive but no where near as annoying as the srt4

That's awesome... there's a commercial for your dealership... always ends with "You're the MAN Mr. Sansone!" LMFAO

Car insurance on the WRX is $$$$$

Chances are the MS3 wouldn't be much more then a Mz3.
No AWD on the MS3 was a huge problem for me. My car would be driven all year around. While I don't think I would have a problem with the car in the winter, there's another person driving my car that certainly would...the woman.

But, no decent subie dealer here so between these two, I'd have to pick the MS3.

Now, if you mean the WRX wagon vs the MS3....this is a no brainer, that damn subie wagon is fugly.

I have no problems with car insurance...maybe a CAN thing?

yeah man... I recently called Geico to see what the difference would be between the WRX and my MSP. It was more... but only $12/year more.

The 2007 Civic Si has 200 hp at the CRANK.

As has been mentioned, all this conjecture is worth nothing. Wait until you drive the car and then make your decisions. If you don't like it after you drive it then walk away and leave it for the next guy. There will be lots of people waiting in line to take it off your hands.

After all, these are only cars. Some people will like the MS3 for various reasons, others will like the WRX for other reasons. Others still will like both of the cars for even other reasons. Ultimately, you drive what you like. Lots of people criticizing them drive neither. Neither of these cars is a LADA; they will both have strengths and weaknesses compared to each other, and other cars.
