A) The Si felt cheap and 'space-shippy' compared to the GTI and the standard Mazda3CHICO2003 said:Supposedly, the TS on the MS3 will be relatively non-existent. I'm a skeptic as well so I'll have to drive one to believe it. That said, all the so-called experts said the TS on the MSP was unbearable.... my guess is they're just a bunch of pu$$ies who can barely bench their own body weight. I didnt find the TS on the MSP to be a problem at all... and I've driven her plenty hard.
As far as your argument to get the SI instead goes.... While I admire Honda's reliability and find it to be superior to pretty much every other car on the planet, I feel the car (in stock form at least) is rather bland looking. The interior is a love it or hate it thing too... after driving one, I'm on the hate it side. way too funky for my taste. the seats are also far too supportive/tight for me. On top of that, while it may be possible to crank that sucker's hp up to the mid 200's fairly easily and cheaply... it'll undoubtedly still require you to rev the ever lovin s*** out of the engine in order to take advantage of this. While some people may like this, I find this to be absolute BS. Think about it like this... when the WRX came out the most common complaint was that it drove/accelerated like a basic impreza... until you got to around 4k rpms... then it turned into a monster. Well, with that logic, these low tq, rev happy engines honda produces shouldn't be as well received as they are. Afterall, the complaint is basically the same... except, instead of 4k rpms... it's more like 6-8k! staying in the 'sweet spot' of the rpm range has to be a b****!!
I'll take a car like the GTI or MS3 over that crap any day... power is accessible pretty much whenever. but hey... honda's are still great cars! My Element kicks ass.
