MS3 vs. WRX

Supposedly, the TS on the MS3 will be relatively non-existent. I'm a skeptic as well so I'll have to drive one to believe it. That said, all the so-called experts said the TS on the MSP was unbearable.... my guess is they're just a bunch of pu$$ies who can barely bench their own body weight. I didnt find the TS on the MSP to be a problem at all... and I've driven her plenty hard.

As far as your argument to get the SI instead goes.... While I admire Honda's reliability and find it to be superior to pretty much every other car on the planet, I feel the car (in stock form at least) is rather bland looking. The interior is a love it or hate it thing too... after driving one, I'm on the hate it side. way too funky for my taste. the seats are also far too supportive/tight for me. On top of that, while it may be possible to crank that sucker's hp up to the mid 200's fairly easily and cheaply... it'll undoubtedly still require you to rev the ever lovin s*** out of the engine in order to take advantage of this. While some people may like this, I find this to be absolute BS. Think about it like this... when the WRX came out the most common complaint was that it drove/accelerated like a basic impreza... until you got to around 4k rpms... then it turned into a monster. Well, with that logic, these low tq, rev happy engines honda produces shouldn't be as well received as they are. Afterall, the complaint is basically the same... except, instead of 4k rpms... it's more like 6-8k! staying in the 'sweet spot' of the rpm range has to be a b****!!

I'll take a car like the GTI or MS3 over that crap any day... power is accessible pretty much whenever. but hey... honda's are still great cars! My Element kicks ass.
A) The Si felt cheap and 'space-shippy' compared to the GTI and the standard Mazda3

B) Another Element fan! _/\_ Gassho!

I'll reserve any more comments until I get a test drive of a MS3. Who knows, I may end up driving home in one :) If they have tamed the torque steer like everyone is saying this could be a very fun car to own.

Look at the F20C S2000 engine. Similiar engine to the K20 and stock redline of 9000 rpm. I read about a test performed on a S2000 engine. It was held at redline for hours on end. It lasted 23 hours before breaking a rocker arm. Honda makes some of the best engines around period.

I understand that, The F20C is a fabolous engine, I admire the engineering behind it. But I would still doubt the reliability of the K20 when pushed to even higher rpm. It sure doesnt sound nice at those RPM, even the F20C. Anyways, back on topic.

The new 2.5 WRX has alot of potential. Full exhaust and tune and it's a STI killer. It also has the upgraded brakes as well. If people are getting them for 22k that's a deal.

Ive driven both cars my man. Im pretty sure mazda knows what they are doing. The MS3 owns a stock wrx, hands down. As for mazda not knowing anything about turbocharging, are you forgetting a certain car called the rx-7? I think mazda has a pretty decent idea on how to turbo charge a car.

how are you claiming that you've driven BOTH cars?
You posted this in september, MS3 surely wasn't being produced then.

Did you read my other posts in this thread? I work for a dealership. I posted pics of the car at our meet on page four of this thread. The model we had was not for sale. It was a demo given to us for a couple of days by mazda to show at our show. I physically picked up the car from another dealership that had demoed it over the weekend at raceway park Nj and drove it back to my dealership. I have driven the car and I really enjoyed it.
