Ms3 Transmission Problem Help Please

Recall done for 4th mount yet Rodney?

Have them check those cables and alignments, make sure they are within spec...mine had all sorts of problems until the engine fell out, then they repaired everything AND my shifting became perfect again.

yes the mount recall was done, it thats the one under the battery but i have noticed that the mount that bolts to the crossmember and the tranny the bushings look f'd up they said that it looks fine so now im waiting on a call tommarrow when the mazda dude comes to see if there is abuse involved, blah, blah, warranty issues, but thing is i dont even think its an internal problem because wants it is in gear it rides perfect, and then the tech tried to tell me some bs it looks like my tranny has been out before, because he said it looks like the bolts have been messed with. i swear up and down that i have not touched the tranny at all, it is still the same fluid in there as when i bought the car, would they be able to check if its the original tranny fluid so they dont give me any bs

Had my tranny replaced at 15,500 miles mostly highway . I immediatly bought and installed an aftermarket motor mount when the new tranny was in just starting to notice a little hesitation shifting into second at 17,500 miles now .

my engine + tranny (idhitit)

just the tranny? were you getting the same problems i was with the down shifting and shifting, give me some details on what yours felt like when it was f'd up, and did mazda give you any hassle on the tranny?

i can already see it tomarrow, im going to get a call saying denied warranty for some kinda of bs, if that happens im going to get rid of the car, im tired of dealing with the mazda dealers, they never man up with there cars, they always try to find something or someone to blame the problem on i really pisses me off!

yea he's gonna give me a call tomarrow and by the tone of his voice , i dont think im gonna be one happy camper, and there probably gonna hate me at the end of the day

LOL, are you kidding? I was furious with Mazda USA (in a constructive way), the incident almost caused me to wreck, and it completely ruined my weekend when it happened. I was on a town errand and doing 40 or so, and it happened. I pulled quickly over, and popped the hood, to find my engine sitting halfway crooked inside the bay. I called Mazda Roadside Assistance (which incidentally is the same number you'd call to get Mazda USA customer service), and I gave them an earfull. I got a tow to my dealer, and dropped it off (this was a Saturday evening), and stopped by Monday morning to speak with my favorite service adviser there and get a rental from them. From there, he took great care of the car and me, and had it completely repaired $4000 worth) in 2 days. I was driving again by Wednesday midday! So warranty?? LOL, the trans mount was turned into a recall after I brought this incident to the attention of NHTSA. I'd say you don't have to worry about your warranty going void when stuff like this happens. Anyway, like I said, the service adviser and his crew took care of everything, and the car performed better then new, and had lots of new parts in the engine bay so not even a scratch was left.

FYI, I was about to enter in negotiations with Mazda to buy my car back, because of the fear of this happening again. I was asked by Mazda USA to allow for time to get an arbitrator down to speak with me, and for me to drive the car after repairs were done until they could get someone to me. Well, within a few hours of driving her, I decided that I would just chalk up the experience as part of owning her, and I called Mazda USA and told them to cancel the arbitrator...that the car will be kept after all. And the rest is history! My story is similar to many who have had this happen, and usually the end result is positive. The dealers stand behind this type of stuff. They have no choice! It is precisely why a warranty exists in the first place.

well it didn't go so good for me they denied my warranty!! the mazda rep came and looked at it today and assumed ABUSE!!!, they want me to pay to get it rebuilt if it even does and the labor to brake it down, and if they dont see abuse then they might keep it as warranty, im am very pissed off, it has 11k miles on it im so pissed off right now, i am never ever going to buy a mazda again and i dont even think i want to fix it, i think i might just get it repoed, i have had to many issues with mazda in the past about warranty work all they have tried to do to me in the past is screw me over!! i dont think it is a coincidence*(spell check) that this happend right after my motor mount failed and they wanna blame this on me!! this is a bunch of bull s***

Hmm...not good.

Just to understand, did you talk with Mazda USA? Not the reps local to you, the number 1-800-866-1998. Tell them you are dealing with a situation that you feel you are being treated unfair, and stay calm but expect results. Bring up the issue of the engine falling out of your car, and how you are concerned that the damage to your transmission is being blamed on you despite the obvious failure of a critical part out of your control. Like I said, stay calm but let them know you are unhappy. Emotion, when controlled and properly directed, can be a powerful tool. Spouting off or getting rude with them will get you nowhere fast.

Tell them you desire action, and ask what is the next step that you need to take. Good luck, and stay nice to them. Its not their fault (the guys and gal's on the phone), so stay kind.

i called and there service is down temporarly and said to call back in an hour, do you think they will do anything about this?? im very furious i will not take it out on the person im talking to because i know it is not thier fault, but i shouldn't have to be going through this with an 2007 with 11k miles on it

They won't know about it, you need to fill them in on it from the beginning.

Tell them you need to be directed to the right department who handles customer complaints, and when the request is made for you to explain what is happening, break it down for them from the beginning of when the engine fell out to today.

When this happened to my car (the engine falling out), and I took the car back, I verified with my service writer that I fully expect my warranty to carefully cover any and everything that happens in that engine bay in the future. He agreed, saying "you never know what could have been damaged or tweaked when something like that happens." And I made sure he noted on my record for service that I expect to be helped should problems occur down the line, since I'm keeping the car.

At any rate, just be persistent, and I wish you well. I agree, they should at least replace it ONCE even if it is abuse. I remember working in the motorcycle repair industry not too long ago. Man, talk about abuse! Yet, most companies like Yamaha and Suzuki would do "good will" coverage all the time, to keep their customers and US the service guys happy. If there is one shred of doubt in their mind that it wasn't abuse, that it was actually a form of defect, then that shred was enough to cover the whole thing.

I remember a guy who brought me a 2005 GSX-R that was trashed from being stunted. He came in with an extended warranty from Suzuki, and had a transmission that was basically unusable. When we broke it down, they found a gear that broke inside, and after a quick test it was determined the gear was over-brittle in nature. Despite the fact that the bike was used for stunting, and abused accordingly, Suzuki didn't bat an eye in covering $4,000 in parts and labor for transmission work. Maybe Mazda doesn't have to be so kind, but as a large company they have to think of their customers first, and the possibility of what previously happened to your motor could cause problems like this in the future.

just started out as problems shifting into 3rd under hard acceleration then second followed then one day pop ! it just came out of second . then I could'nt get it back in seemed like all of a sudden until I remembered all the times I stripped the hell out of the gears . foot flat on the floor (on the clutch ) shift to 2nd striiiiiiiiiiiiiiippppppppppppp !

matter of fact just got her back from the dealer today told them it still seems sticky in second they said they put a special mazda additive in the tranny fluid and want me to try it out before trying something like redline . First try out the lot put it in second it goes halfway let off the clutch put it to the floor agian goes right in seems to be a hit or miss thing i don't get it .

No hassles the only one hassling anyone was me . they tried to rebuild it first I was'nt very happy about that then the finally bit the bullet and replaced it took 29 days . Then I got it back and it was hard as hell to put in gear . Took it back to find out that somehow while they had it the shifter cables gave out .

well this all just a bunch of bs, i called mazda and they called the dealer and mazda is still not going to do anything about this, i am getting rid of the car, i am probably not going to buy a mazda anymore just for the fact that when i know that i will have to eventually rely on mazda for warranty work and they are just gonna screw me over again, dont get me wrong i love my car to death but i cant not deal with this bs anymore too many times have i had to fight mazda over warrant bull s***. it stops today, i will be selling my intake and bypass valve, along with the system too. im jus gonna go build me a civic hatch and drop a k20 in it and never have to worry about mazdas bull s*** again

WOW! I've never heard of that before. Usually you can arbitrate with Mazda USA. I'm not sure you are going through the right chain of command. IF the motor fell out, THEN they need to pay attention to what can go wrong with the transmission in the future!

Suggest calling Mazda USA and ask them what is the next step to take. Do we go with Lawyers, do I talk to your superiors, do I go to the Press, etc. I'm SURE Mazda understands that if it hits headline news that ENGINES ARE FALLING OUT OF 25 thousand dollar CARS there will be one hell of a ruckus. Remind them of that, and how you expect your car to be warranted after such an event. How are they to know what caused your transmission to fail, anyway?

Hey man I have been reading up on the thread since I last posted. Fourthmeal is 100% right. I can't believe they said that to you. Its common for a dealer to want you to pay for a tear down just incase. It isn't fair at all. I would call again and ask for a supervisor. Even if you "abused" the car how can they be so sure? If you can hit every gear and drive then the teeth aren't ripped off. Sounds like a bent shift fork or cable problem. Couldnt that be caused by the linkage getting screwed up by the motor falling out also? Its their burdon to fix it first and blame you later. In my experiances I ripped the plastic base of the shifter off the floor in my Focus from shifting so hard, warrantyed fine. My Subaru popped the teeth off second gear and the first time was warrantied of good will. I personally think you went to a bad dealer and now they are trying to stick it to you.
