Hey i was just wondering if this happened to anyone, so i was at a stop light and i was in N so i decided to go to 1st gear when i pushed the clutch and threw it into gear it would not go into gear (scared the S*1T out of me) eventually after trying like 2-3 times it went into gear. (This isn't the first time that happened)

IMO, totally normal. It happens to me every once in a while. I read that because the output shaft is stationary the first gear teeth do not always line up with the collar on the first try.

fa sho. i always drop it into 2nd before going into first. 'my' old gti pretty much required it. its now just a habit. no big.

Yeah happens to me sometimes as well. Like others mentioned it's not a problem really, just shift into 2nd or shift out of 1st and then back in. I have to admit it did scare the s*** out of me on a few occasions. I think it's more embarrassing than anything because it probably appears to other drivers that you aren't good at driving stick or that you're having car troubles...

I think it happens in a lot of vehicles, my girls accord does that, my SHO from back in the day did it all the time, extremely notchy. I wouldn't worry unless it becomes excessive

If you are driving and comming to a stop sign/light and do not down shift through the gears this will happen. On some cars it will happen all the time and others not so often. On my car and every stick car I have owned I always down shift and don't really touch the brakes until I need to stop. Just the way my Dad taught me to drive. But I did notice that if I do not use 2nd gear while stopping I do get the 1st gear stuck thing. A quick throw into 3rd to 2nd and then 1st gear is fine. You can take off in 2nd gear also BTW. I do...........ALOT!

ive had problems with reverse in other cars, its then a 1-r and all i good all i can say is try another dear and then back to 1.
