1. Will the MS CAI or exhaust from the dealer affect the warranty? My dealer said no when I asked, but I would love some corroboration of this.

2. Does anyone know if Mazda does/will carry a B.O.V. and/or boost gauge for the MS3? If not, would aftermarket pieces affect the warranty?

Thanks.

1. NO! use search my friend
2. Shouldn't unless you screw up the wiring or the dealer can prove "your mod" affected the car. I also highly doubt any manufacturer will have BOV/BPV for factory cars. besides no one has proved the stock unit leaks. IMO BPV /BOV is for the flash. non needed item.

You could always just mod what you want and IF it breaks remove all your mods so it looks factory. thats what i plan on doing, IF i ever plan to mod my MS3. CAI will not void warranty so need to remove for service.

As for the BOV, if I get the intake, I will hear the stock BOV sound better, no?

What about re-circ diverters, like on VW's?

And, I have had aftermarket intakes void the warranty previously... even AT THE SAME MAZDA DEALER. I'm assuming that buying the actual Mazda part would be different, but I wanted to double-check.

Does anyone have a statement in writing from a dealer certifying that Mazdaspeed parts don't void factory powertrain warranty?

After about a week now of running the CAI I can now hear the blow off valve and it is great. I have no intentions to upgrade to make that sound louder and the stock one is fine.

Well the CAI wouldnt have anything to do with the powertrain any how so dont worry. However I have made calls and spoke in person confirming that MS parts maintain factory warranty and they do not have to be installed by the dealer for this. If you install it wrong and cause damage then that wouldnt be covered but if you do it properly (which is cake) then you are all good.

Yeah but I dont ever see how exhaust could be responsible for damaging parts that are under warranty. Perhaps if you screw with things before the cat it could blow some sensors but after the cat I wouldnt worry about it.

Don't get me wrong -- I totally agree with you. However, in my experience, dealers will find any possible excuse to get out of waranteed work.

I think I even read somewhere that if you get mazdaspeed accessories some of them are actuall covered by Mazda if installed properly. Something like 1 year on the intake if I wasn't dreaming and actually read it somewhere.

I was reading the booklet that the dealer gave me on warrenty last night and it is vauge as hell. It has a lot of 'what is not covered' which includes non-Mazda replacement parts. It also includes under 'factors beyond the manufacturer's control' which includes racing, accidents, alterations, modifications, tampering etc.

Nowhere does it say warrenty void in the entire warrenty booklet. I am not a lawyer but my understanding is that anything you do or put in your car is not covered my Mazda under the warrenty, but not voiding your entire warrenty either.

Aftermarket companies are protected by Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975 which through my understanding states you don't have to use Mazda parts or Mazda services when having work done to your car. Once again I am not a lawyer or a mechanic so if anyone wants to clarify I would be very interested in learning more about warrenty and our rights as consumers.
