Okay I recieved the MPI tuner today in the mail. I read and re-read the "MPI Tuner and turbo module installation" procedure sheets, however I have a couple of questions.
First question- steps # 16 and # 19 contradict each other, which one should I be using?
Do Both. I hooked mine up exactly how the instructions said.
Sec. Question- steps #13 thru #15 refer to the "clamp" wires...I'm assuming they mean the same colored wires off of the turbo module, but I want to confirm this.
Yeah, there are 2 white, purple and yellow wires. (yours may be different, I have the older module) Of the 2 colored wires in each step, just pick one, it doesn't matter.
Th. Question- What exactly is a "SPST" switch?
It's just a selectable point toggle switch (one side on, one side off), anyone from radio shack will do.
Since I do not have my laptop yet (comes tommorow) I decided to load the software on my home pc. I ran into a few problems. I cannot read any of the manuals it tells me the path is blocked? -note doesn't seem to try to read them...it's trying to install something? I was able to install the actual MPI software, but when trying to access it asked for a code on drive a. I put the disk in (that came with the MPI) but it says no code is on the disk.
Okay, I had a problem the first time I installed the SW too. When I tried to load it, an installer would pop up. It turned out to be conflicting with another program I had on. If this is what yours is doing, then you need to remove that program.
The Key on the disk should be copied into the MPI_TUNER directory and it will not prompt you for the drive. It will ask you if you want to use the key it already found, once it's in the directory.
- also on a side note do you Have to install the bigger MAF sensor? That thing is massive....I can't imagine me needing it......
You can leave the stock MAF on if you want. The bigger MAF is for when you are going to have MUCH more power. It will create a lesser of a restriction in the air flow, thus ginving you more power. It is a bit more work to tune that thing at first. You basically will have to tune the entire range from scratch. With the stock one, you just need to help it a little here and there.
- If this isn't the place to be asking questions let me know, I'll move it..
Thanks for all the info.
