mp5 parts purchasing tips, please.

After doing some "thinking" I've come to the conclusion that I want to do the following to my 2k2 mp5:

1. upgr. intake
2. upgr. cams
3. upgr. headers (not avail?)
4. upgr. exhaust
5. upgr. ecu (appearently not available)
6. maybe upgr. flywheel
7. upgr. anything else??

I'm looking for at least 170 hp and to be able to pass the CA smog (never mind the warranty).

Now for the question:

Could someone who have done this before please direct me to the best sources to get these parts. Taking performance and cost into consideration.

How much would this cost me (ballpark). What do I have to do to pass the smog ($50, $100, $1000 to the local smogorpass guy, or a potatoe in the tailpipe)

Can anyone estimate the amount of labor involved to install the parts (I wont do the cams or the flywheel my self, afraid I would fk it all up).

Exactly, which is why is this info should be discussed in the post for all to see...not on the phone...this is a public forum.

squidward, its never as easy as saying these are the best parts...you have to make that decision for your self. Click on search and start checking out the posts regarding your inquiry. I'm sure you can find some answers to your questions.

As for GReddy917, it would be great if you can offer you advice/info for all to see...Like Spoolin and CHdesign, they have contributed and continue to offer great advice to our members.

You will pass emissions

If you get the Japanese cams, you will pass emissions. Just don't touch your cats. It is very hard not to pass the sniffer test. The car has to basically be blowing gas out the exhaust to fail. As long as you don't remove the cats, don't worry about it. Especially with two cats, there are no worrys.

I've been publicly disclosing info and advice on these proteges as well. Why don't I get any Administrative recognition. This isn't fair. hehe.

Anyways, there's a lot more coming also. Pretty much everything that's available for the protege's right now has been discussed including the remainder of the products coming this year. The search function would probably be your best asset as well as the other site protegeclub.com. There's a lot of stuff and info over there as well and the categories are organized with specifics.
